Fire Officers Who Allegedly Shoved and Pepper-Sprayed Two Elderly Women

Target: Chris Magnus, Chief of Police in Tucson, Arizona

Goal: Fire the officer who is accused of unjustly shoving a 78-year-old protestor on the street and the officer who is accused of wrongfully pepper-spraying a retired teacher.

A police officer was caught on video pushing a 78-year-old female protester even though she doesn’t seem to pose any threat, while another officer then pepper-sprays a retired schoolteacher who attempts to help the woman up off the street. Demand that these officers are fired for their reckless and uncalled for behavior.

Fritzi Redgrave was protesting President Trump’s immigration policies at the Day Without Immigrants protest in Tucson, Ariz., where she was allegedly grabbed and pushed to the ground by a police officer. Rolande Baker, a 65-year-old retired schoolteacher, reached down to help Redgrave up when Baker was reportedly pepper-sprayed and temporarily blinded by another officer. The entire ordeal was caught on police body camera footage that was petitioned for release by a local news outlet.

Redgrave said she only had minor injuries after the altercation, but the situation could have ended up much worse. Baker said the police officers at the protest were “being way more aggressive than I’ve ever seen them be” in the 30 years since she’s been living in Tucson.

Local activists have spoken out against the actions of the officers at the protest, citing police brutality and use of unnecessary force against these women who did not pose a threat. Seeing police officers push and pepper-spray peaceful protesters is horrifying. Demand these officers be fired if found guilty of using excessive force.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Chief Magnus,

Under your watch, local police officers allegedly shoved a woman in her late 70s onto the street and pepper-sprayed a woman in her 6os who tried to help her. The body camera footage that captured this shocking incident purports to show that the actions of these officers were completely unjustified.

If these officers can’t properly handle a peaceful protest, they shouldn’t be in the line of duty. I demand that you investigate the accusations made against these officers and fire them immediately if they are found guilty of this despicable behavior.

Sincerely,

Such sh-t as this is exactly why I’m liking cops less and less as time goes by!!! Sick and tired of cops not being held accountable for their murdering/abusive actions toward citizens!!!

  2. Police brutality needs to be dealt with as the very serious issue that it is. It should not be tolerated and all offending cops should be fired, after INDEPENDENT investigations are done.
This video seems to show a cop brutally treating 2 little elderly ladies as if they were dangerous criminals. If cops are so afraid of little elderly ladies then they should get another profession.
