Stop Trump’s Attack on Education and Research Budgets

Target: Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House of Representatives

Goal: Reject President Trump’s proposal to cut spending on vital education and research programs to supplement extra defense spending.

President Trump has sent a proposal to Congress requesting budget cuts of almost $18 billion for education and medical research to help offset a $30 billion increase for border security and defense. If passed by the House and the Senate, this would be a part of the governing budget for the rest of the 2017 fiscal year.

This last-minute request from Trump could throw a wrench into the works for Congress, which must meet an April 28th deadline to determine the spending plan for the rest of the fiscal year, or the government may partially shut down. Trump’s proposal would use money that could be benefiting the American people by forwarding medical science and educating our children, and instead putting it toward constructing a border wall and expanding our already beefed-up military. This proposal is irresponsible and damaging to our country. Sign below to demand that Congress reject it.

Dear Mr. Speaker,

The proposal put forward by President Trump regarding spending for the remainder of the 2017 fiscal year must be rejected. The budget for vital programs like education and medical research must be preserved, not further torn up while Trump breaks campaign promises and uses taxpayer dollars to build a border wall.

Health and education are absolutely not programs that we as a country can afford to roll back on. I urge you not to pass Trump’s budget proposal.

  1. Gen Lovyet Agustsson says:

    no more cuts!

  2. Just to point out, the cuts to medical research may include cuts to facilities that torture animals for “science” purposes, so this could be a good thing.
