Stop Forcing Orangutans to Perform in Boxing Matches

Target: Mr. Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand

Goal: Demand the orangutan boxing show at the Bangkok Safari World Zoo be put to an end.

The Bangkok Safari World Zoo in Thailand is profiting from their exploitative orangutan boxing show every night. The orangutans at this zoo are forced to dress up and box with each other for human entertainment. In addition to the orangutans fighting, other orangutans are forced to dress up in bikinis and hold ring cards.

The zoo is taking advantage of these intelligent creatures every night. Orangutans are docile primates and violence is typically an unknown trait in them. During this show, they are forced to punch, hit, kick and even bite one another. Orangutans are also arboreal animals, meaning they spend most of their lives living in trees. Forcing them to stand on their feet for extended periods of time is extremely difficult for them.

“When you see these animals performing what are uncomfortable and stressful tricks, know that they are not doing it because they want to, they are doing it because they are afraid,” said a spokesperson with PETA.

The zoo is painting this show as something fun and lighthearted, but it is the exact opposite of that for the orangutans. Orangutans are often taken from their mothers in the wild and sold on the black market to only then be forced into situations like this.

Sign this petition to demand that this show is brought to an immediate and permanent end.

Dear Mr. Prayut Chan-o-cha

As the Prime Minister of Thailand, you have a responsibility to hold this Bangkok zoo accountable for their abusive actions. The Bangkok Safari World Zoo is forcing orangutans to dress up and fight one another every night, just for the entertainment of tourists and other zoo-goers.

Orangutans are extremely intelligent animals and do not deserve this type of exploitation. We encourage you to do what you can to bring this terrible and exploitative show to a permanent end.

  1. Why are these Orangutans not in a Sanctuary? They are becoming endangered. These human misfits should leave other species alone as these silly, barbaric humans have no idea on how to treat and manage animals. If this is what Thailand offers and allows, then count me out forever, visiting such a stupid and cruel place.

  2. Denise Devereux says:

Tourists Do No go to these events. In fact do not go to Thailand if they continue to abuse their animalse eg. Elephants. What is wrong with the humane race.
Do they have to exploit animals to amuse their tiny minds. These animals were not placed on the earth for human exploitation rather they are another species that have their role to play on earth. “The Morale Progress of a country can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Mahatma G.
Respect and compassion for ALL Creatures Great and Small.

  3. Gail Lindley says:

There are no words. I am not sure who is more insane, the people that even thought this was a good idea or the insane people that pay to see this. These are animals that need to do what animals do and putting on a boxing match is not what they do. When are we going to stop treating animals in such cruel and brutal ways? I hope all these people have the worst kind of karma possible.

    • Joan Cummings says:

So very true. This is so sick

    • I so agree with your thoughts and comments Gail. All animal exploitation must be severely dealt and anybody who profits from such cruelty must be prosecuted. We have a voice, these helpless and vulnerable creatures do not, but we will be heard and action is needed IMMEDIATELY to remove these innocent Orangutans from this despicable situation and rehomed to an accredited sanctuary.

  4. I cannot understand the mentality of anyone being entertained by such ridiculousness, let alone the asinine idiots who think up such treatment of animals. These are thinking, feeling, social animals who would not “perform” such “tricks” without the use of negative reinforcement – e.g. beatings. This should be illegal!

  5. Caryl Sawyer says:

Thailand is notorious for elephant abuse. This is a culture that has not evolved. Stop buying crap made in Asia.

  7. Omg.. These beautiful creatures, I feel such a sadness for humanity, we exploit children and animals for money and our pleasure

  8. Kathryn Irby says:

  9. Visited Safari World this month, it was fun, I observed was they were not punching each other badly, it was kind of fake boxes. Still, they are forced/trained to wear clothes/bikinis and act as cheerleaders which I feel was not good.

  10. Orangutans are more intelligent than most humans and are beautifull gentle creatures and the way these brain DEAD HUMANS TREAT THEM IS DISGUSTING. If idiot humans want to damage their brains boxing that’s OK they know what tghey are doing but to force an animal to do it is just SICK. STOP THIS NOW and put these beautifull gentle creatures in a sanctuary.

  11. What can we expect? It’s Thialand,we are not talking about a country
With any morals or concern for animal welfare, they exploit children
    For profit let alone animals.
Who is more sick, the morons who thought of this ” entertainment”
Or the sad sadistical bastards that pay to watch.
Asian countries have always been the champions when it comes to
Having no regard for the vulnerable,be it children or animals.

  12. Kae Blecha, OTR says:

My family has hosted 2 Thai exchange students, and they were both wonderful. In fact, they participated in a Walk-a-thon for the Humane Society. Perhaps if your country was better educated as a whole, there would be no need for families to sell their daughters to brothels, or for entertainment promoters to force your beautiful wildlife to humiliate themselves.

  13. This abusive disrespect to these innocent, vulnerable and helpless Orangutans must be ended NOW! Man does not have the right to exploit ANY creature in this despicable and unacceptable manner. Rehome these intelligent creatures to an accredited sanctuary immediately. No creature is born into this world to be used and abused by man and it is about time that this attitude towards ANY creature is made illegal once and for all.

  14. Elizabeth says:

Please can this be stopped ???? How long do these poor animals have to suffer in the name of entertainment ??? What else can be done – as petitions do not seem to be working ???

  15. DAMN GODDESS – the most precious is destroyed (mother earth)
The worst shit (human) remains – WHY

  16. Frances raab says:

This is stupid, cruel, and completely unnecessary – may these disgusting wastes of a soul know the horror of their deeds. So Mote It Be. Blessed Be

  17. Lilian Caughlin says:

Thailand is a rat hole. Beautiful on post cards etc. but that’s where it ends . I wouldn’t travel there for all the money in the world.

  18. Stop & pursue this criminal rabble and this deformity  –  instantly!
BARBARIC, GREED AND BRAINLESS and not able to think human?

Not humane than barbaric, really stupid and worthless criminal and ignorant ASSHOLES, which should be banned on an island for their whole lives! Or not?

It’s time hold all those responsible for authorizing and overseeing the implementation of torture against fellow EARTH inhabitants & creatures accountable. A special prosecutor is the most comprehensive way to do that.

  19. Lisa Allred Lisa Zarafonetis says:

Time for karma to ass fck these pieces of sh!t with a cactus ?❗?
