Juveniles Who Admitted to Hanging Stray Dog Must Not Escape Punishment

Target: Jim Gabehart, Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney

Goal: Juveniles who admitted to hanging a stray dog must be harshly punished.

Two juveniles admitted to killing a stray dog by hanging the animal after police say a photo of the horrific incident had been posted on social media. The two unnamed suspects could face animal cruelty charges, but the police seem to be brushing the crime under the rug. In a statement to a news outlet,  Trooper Sergeant Fox says that the suspects said “it was a stray dog who was sickly, and they believed it was going to die.”

This is a pathetic excuse for allegedly gruesomely killing an innocent animal, and the police seem indifferent about it. If authorities don’t press for a serious punishment, animal killers often go unpunished. Allowing these juveniles to escape justice after allegedly committing such a heinous act of animal cruelty would only put more innocent lives at risk in the future. Please add your signature to the petition below to demand that authorities take this seriously and see to it that these people are harshly punished.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Gabehart,

A couple of juveniles admitted to police that they hanged and killed a stray dog. Police say the juveniles thought that the dog was sickly and they believed it was going to die, but that should be no excuse for their gruesome crime. Additionally, the two posted photos of the horrific scene on social media, as if they were proud of what they’d done.

If authorities allow these juveniles to get away with a gruesome act of animal cruelty, there’s a high possibility that these people will continue to kill innocent creatures. That is why we’re calling on you to ensure that the suspects are harshly punished so that no more innocent animals are killed.

Sincerely,

One of the first signs of a sociopath is the torturing of helpless animals. The sociopath will then feign innocence and/or make some lame excuse for their monstrous behavior. These two people are dangerous to society – they CAN NOT change and should be put away so they don’t move on to human beings. There is NO cure for sociopathy so we have a duty to protect the innocent from these heartless, conscienceless monsters.

  2. Cynthia Gannon says:

Really. So this is open season on killing stray dogs? I thought this type of conduct was illegal which it is in normal cities and states. There are some weird people out there and they start young. Perhaps these law makers and policemen could do their job and stop cruelty in it’s tracks. Posting on social media should give you a clue. And seriously, these kids thought the dog was going to die so they did the dog a favour???? And trooper Sgt Fox thinks that’s ok? Think again. Name and shame these callous and weird kids.

  3. Shirl Ann Wong says:

Police in the states don’t take this seriously – maybe they will when a child gets hurt

  4. Silver wing says:

It’s a chance these two brats learn some respect, now is the time to do it. Acquit them and they’ll be encouraged to do the same or worst later on.

  5. Peggy Crowl says:

So I’m guessing that if later on they decide to kill a toddler, it should be an acceptable act. Because, after all, one day that child will also die.

  6. These monsters MUST be severely punished for causing immense suffering and death of a helpless dog.

The sociopaths did it, because they could. Don’t let them get away without severe punishment. They are a danger to all living beings. Stop them, now!!

  7. WHAT THE HELL?? SO THESE MONSTER KIDS TOLD YOU THE DOG IS SICK SO THEY VIOLENTLY PUT A NOOSE AROUND ITS NECK AND HORRIFICALLY, CALLOUSLY AND PAINFULLY HANG IT AND IT IS OK WITH THE COPS? ARE YOU ALL CRAZY??WHAT A MADE UP STORY SO THEY CAN WALK AWAY ON THIS HORRIFIC CRIME. A EMPTY EXCUSE, A BAD LIE THAT THE POOR DOG WAS SICK GIVES THESE MONSTERS THE RIGHT TO CRUELLY AND MALICIOUSLY MURDER IT??? I THINK NOT, AND IF IT WERE MY DOG OR A DOG I KNEW WHOSE OWNER IT WAS THERE WOULD NOT BE A ROCK BIG ENOUGH WHERE THESE MONSTERS COULD HIDE THAT I WOULDN’T FIND THEM.

    ATTENTION AUTHORITIES: (ESPECIALLY TROOPER FOX)
FBI STUDIES SHOW THAT ANIMAL ABUSERS THOSE WHO ABUSE,TORTURE AND MURDER ANIMALS GO ON TO DOING THE SAME TO HUMANS. LOOK AT DALMER AND BUNDY JUST FOR TWO EXAMPLES OF THESE SICKOS.

MAKE EXAMPLES OF THESE MONSTERS, COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR 5 YEARS OR MORE, FINE THEM A HUGE AMOUNT SO WILL THINK ABOUT IT EVERY DAY HOW NOT TO BE A MONSTER, BAN THEM FROM EVER HAVING OR BEING AROUND ANIMALS, DEMAND PSYCHIATRIC HELP AS THEY ARE SICK. I WOULD HATE TO HAVE THEM LIVE IN MY NEIGHBOR HOOD BUT IF THEY DID WE WOULD WATCH THEM EVERY SECOND TO KEEP THEM FROM DOING THIS AGAIN.
THIS INSANITY MUST BE STOPPED AND THE ONLY ONES TO DO THAT ARE THE ONES OF US THAT LOVE OUR PETS AND RESPECT THEIR LIVES.

This happened to my family dog Etoile. My cousin found her hanging from a tree. She was beaten to death. This is not a joke and these people need to be caught and taught a lesson.

    • Linda Cummings says:

I am so sorry for your loss. I am so sorry your family was touched by evil. It is bad enough to loose a pet. But the way you lost him his intolerable. Please know many many people share your pain and outrage. I pray your dog has peace now and that you may find the same, somehow.

    • Beth Marie says:

So sad, sorry. The prosecutor better do his job! Get these monsters off our streets and in jail.

  9. Dr. Tony DeLia says:

I am sure the police will have no problem having these two POS’s babysit their young children unsupervised since they are just “misunderstood.” Wait! you mean you don’t think they would? Sounds like the department didn’t require an IQ test for these cops.

  10. Cynthia Mattera says:

This is disgusting!!!!The dog was sickly…so what! If they were compassion teens, they would have brought the dog to a vet or at least tried to help it!!!
These teens are very disturbed and dangerous. This vicious crime against an innocent stray dog needs to be taken VERY seriously! Their parents need to take this very seriously. If not punished, they will just do it again to other animals and possibly to people!!! Rest in peace poor dog…im so sorry!!!

  11. Yeah, make the last moments even more painful by murdering it, how compassionate. Sure do hope their parents never get real sick. Of course, I am being sarcastic. But if these children are just scolded, they will continue to do serious harm, torture, and kill other dogs, and who knows what, or who, else. The parents and police need to punish them severely for this. Then put their punishment on social media since that’s all they care about anyway.

  12. Linda Cummings says:

So hanging the dog was OK with the police because the evil bastards said it was going to die anyway?! Even if this were true, shouldn’t this produce feelings of compassion and kindness?! NORMAL HUMAN DESCENT behavior in this case would be to provide the suffering animal relief and KINDNESS for God’s sake! I am sick also, and am going to die early. Would you like to hang me as well? I am sure the police would be ok with it.

  13. Linda Cummings says:

I cannot find what state this occurred in, I wish they would provide this info. Someone please tell what state this occurred in so I can know to never set foot there.

  14. JULIE HARRIS says:

Jim Gabehart is a Prosecuting Attorney in West Virginia

  15. HELL AWAITS THESE KILLERS TO KILL A GREAT LIFE THAT MATTERED NOW.

  16. Beth Marie says:

If these monsters are not punished, fined AND jailed then you did NOT do your job. These kids committed a crime, so prosecute them. We don’t want them walking our streets!! A child will be next on their list, they don’t care.

  17. I personally would like to see them hanging from the same tree!!!!! “Sickly” my rear end….. if that were the case they wouldn’t have hanged him ….. and then made selfies joking about it “hanging with my dog”. These are sick people and will eventually do terrible things to human beings. There’s no ” rehabilitating” some things. This being one of them!

  18. WTF ARE YOU KIDDING ME…. WHO’S NOT MORTIFIED WITH ANY ADULT LET ALONE CHILDREN ACTING LIKE THIS ON THE DAILY? WHY IS IT SO COMPLICATED TO IMPLEMENT SOME FELONY LAWS FOR SUCH ATROCIOUS BEHAVIOR? I CAN’T BELIEVE ITS EVEN A QUESTION IN TODAYS AGE OF EQUALITY!!!

  19. masayuki tanaka says:

Hang them both!! their lives are worthless!!

  20. You would contact a vet if the poor dog was ill. These morons obviously have a sociopathic personality disorder. They will go on to commit more crimes. They usually begin with animals and move on to children. Studies have shown this. They need to be stopped now.
