Juveniles Who Admitted to Hanging Stray Dog Must Not Escape Punishment

Target: Jim Gabehart, Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney

Goal: Juveniles who admitted to hanging a stray dog must be harshly punished.

Two juveniles admitted to killing a stray dog by hanging the animal after police say a photo of the horrific incident had been posted on social media. The two unnamed suspects could face animal cruelty charges, but the police seem to be brushing the crime under the rug. In a statement to a news outlet,  Trooper Sergeant Fox says that the suspects said “it was a stray dog who was sickly, and they believed it was going to die.”

This is a pathetic excuse for allegedly gruesomely killing an innocent animal, and the police seem indifferent about it. If authorities don’t press for a serious punishment, animal killers often go unpunished. Allowing these juveniles to escape justice after allegedly committing such a heinous act of animal cruelty would only put more innocent lives at risk in the future. Please add your signature to the petition below to demand that authorities take this seriously and see to it that these people are harshly punished.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Gabehart,

A couple of juveniles admitted to police that they hanged and killed a stray dog. Police say the juveniles thought that the dog was sickly and they believed it was going to die, but that should be no excuse for their gruesome crime. Additionally, the two posted photos of the horrific scene on social media, as if they were proud of what they’d done.

If authorities allow these juveniles to get away with a gruesome act of animal cruelty, there’s a high possibility that these people will continue to kill innocent creatures. That is why we’re calling on you to ensure that the suspects are harshly punished so that no more innocent animals are killed.

Sincerely,

Even if the animal was sickly it does not give these kids the permission to this abominable act of abuse. Theses kids knew exactly what they were going to do and they acted upon it. If the dog was ill what was the reason for not calling a veterinarian or an animal shelter or even an adult? Some people think that in this day and age children are innocent, incapable of committing any heinous crime or act of violence. Unfortunately I don’t think this is true at all. Grant you not all children would do this but, some do and these are the ones who’s names should be printed and stated. Therapists are so busy trying to figure out why someone commits horrible crimes against animals or people, I think they lose sight of the victims. They seem to be trying to excuse them, blaming it on behavior from the parents, school mates and television or it’s a phase. Is there not a possibility these kids wanted to do this for fun or out of boredom? The bottom line is they committed this heinous act against a sick animal.

Charge the Juvenile Delinquents, and if not them because of their minor status, THEIR PARENTS, for the Killing of a loving, innocent dog, to the FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW!!! UNACCEPTABLE!!

  3. Laurie Miskell says:

Are you f*cking kidding me?? this is how serial killers start out, is it going to take them killing someone’s child before the cops get off their asses and do their jobs? these punk asses should be thrown under the jail. yeah it was a stray and had as much right to live if not more then those wastes of space, That dog was an innocent soul.

  4. It sounds to me like these two were the sickly ones. By their own logic, we should hang them.
