Demand that Idaho Stop Extreme Wolf Killing Efforts

Target: Idaho Governor “Butch” Otter
Goal: Stop extreme wolf killing efforts in Idaho that violate federal management policy and instead recognize wolves as vital wildlife.

Since Idaho took over wolf management, state officials have been decimating wolves and introducing extreme anti-wolf policies that facilitate hunting, trapping and killing these important predators. In one year, more than 400 wolves were eliminated–almost half of the state’s entire population. Idaho must recognize that wolves are vital wildlife and that keeping their population at the bare minimum to satisfy special interests is unethical and unscientific.

Just one year ago, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service granted Idaho responsibility for the state’s wolf management under the condition that they maintain the wolf population at numbers between 518 and 732. Once wolves were delisted, they suddenly changed their policy to maintaining the bare minimum of 150.

Wolves were on the endangered species list for thirty years. Until recently, conservation efforts were so successful that wolf populations seemed well on their way to a full recovery. Now, companies are more interested in protecting livestock than the struggling top tier predators.

Sign the petition below to show your opposition to Idaho’s extreme wolf killing policies. Tell Governor Otter to change the anti-wolf rhetoric to encourage respect for wildlife and promote wise, non-lethal wolf management strategies.

PETITION LETTER

Dear Idaho Governor, Mr. Otter,

Since Idaho took over wolf management, your state officials have been decimating wolves and introducing extreme anti-wolf policies that facilitate hunting, trapping and killing these important predators. In one year, more than 400 wolves were eliminated–almost half of the state’s entire population. The people of Idaho must recognize that wolves are vital wildlife and that keeping their population at the bare minimum to satisfy special interests is unethical and unscientific.

Just one year ago, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service granted Idaho responsibility for the state’s wolf management under the condition that they maintain the wolf population at numbers between 518 and 732. Once wolves were delisted, high ranking officials suddenly changed your state’s policy to maintaining the bare minimum of 150.

I ask that you do all you can to change the anti-wolf rhetoric used by the livestock business and instead encourage respect for wildlife by promoting wise, non-lethal, long-term wolf management strategies.

Sincerely,

At one point the whole country rallied to save these majestic creatures, and now we are backtracking to encourage dominance over these predators?! It’s absolutely despicable, and the Governor of Idaho should be ashamed.

    • Billy Angus says:

      I agree, Lindsey…
Otter is a blasphemer and an idolater!
An evil serpent, disguised as a human,
who bows down to stone beasts and worships
golden images, blaspheming our Creator’s holy name!
“Butcher” Otter is not a man of the Lord…
He is a servant to the Devil!

  2. I live here in Northern Idaho and I see herds and herds of deer. If we kill all the wolves, the deer are like rabbits. I love all animals but we need to let nature take its course. Don’t leave your dogs tied up outside,
put up electric fencing with red flags and have large Peronese dogs to protect the sheep and cattle 24/7.
Many ranches are doing this and living in harmony with them. This can be done. The torture, trapping and killing of these wolves is dispicable and I am embarrased to be human sometimes with how we abuse and torture ALL animals!!! The backwards hunters are such cavemen sometimes.

  3. Berenice Guedes de Sá says:

Thank you for this! We must save sa ve and protect all wildlife and all animals!

  4. B. Mioduski says:

These wolves are living being which deserve to live & procreate. There are seven billion humans on this earth, how many wolves do you think are in existence compared to our population????????

Wherever you go there once were trees & wolves.
Plant protect Danny’s trees & wolves.
Trees are the lungs of the earth.

  5. You wolf lovers cry rivers for your beloved wolf but fail to understand the reasons that it was introduced in 1995. Those reasons have nothing to do with the invironment or animal rights. There is a specific agenda that a few of you know about and the rest of you are just followers without a cause. For those of you who are the followers, here are the reasons. First is the yellowstone to yukon wildlife corridor. Second is anti hunting and third is anti gun crowd shouting louder and louder and all are working toward one goal. To install agenda 21, sustainable development which is the political correct word for agenda 21 and the whole works leads to the new world order. For those of you who are non-believers, check out agenda 21 on google. You are one of those 7 billion people that the elite of the world wants to annilate and that is why the wolf has been lifted to such high status. Educate yourself before you post such garbage on facebook and elsewhere.

    • Wolves existed in numbers far greater than the meager populations of today along with far greater numbers of deer, elk, moose, etc. long before European settlement. The world doesn’t exist only for a group of irresponsible hunters and ranchers. Predators and prey have lived together in a dynamic (i.e. changing) balance for thousands of years before we came on the scene to mess things up. Predators keep prey species moving around to maintain habitat health and vigor, as well as the health of the herds. Aldo Leopold, the father of modern wildlife biology, published this almost a hundred years ago and it’s as true now as it was then. The anti-wolf people continue to throw out their false rhetoric about conspiracies, but they just “don’t get it” that the majority of civil US citizens believe that wolves and other predators have a right to exist. They perform vital ecological roles in maintaining the health of entire ecosystems, INCLUDING deer, elk, etc. The hatred espoused by the anti-wolf groups is embarrassing and I worry about how they treat their wives, kids, and other people. Those who love the small population of wolves are just speaking for the animals that have no other voice.

    • Billy Angus says:

Clint, we’re not gonna conform to
      your load of country-bumpkin felgercarb!
Why don’t you go get yourself
a friggin’ life, ya’ square-brained turkey!
All of you Far Right freaks are in the wrong century!
You don’t belong in the year 2012 A.D….
I think the 19th Century would be your era.
The Old West is in the past…
Leave our wolves alone or else someday,
your future generations will disown you,
write you out of the family history books,
go against your traditions of hunting and trapping,
reject animal meat and country music and become vegetarians, and form hippie communes worldwide.

    • Kristin Majercik says:

It is obvious that you are the one who needs to educate yourself. Without the wolf, the deer herds increase to the point of illness and starvation. People who HUNT (which is not the same as indiscriminate slaughter) appreciate the beauty of healthy, vigorous animals (predator and prey both) existing in a sustaining environment. There ARE ranchers in Idaho who have educated themselves on how to adequately protect their livestock so that the wolf can perform his vital role in maintaining ecological balance. Those who desire the destruction of the wolf are, in fact, helping to bring about the ultimate destruction of the ecosystem, and us right along with it.

    • WiZaRd Of The Wolf Nation says:

Clint, why don’t ya’ go back to your
white trash outhouse, drink your moonshine
and watch your stupid corny reruns of Hee Haw
on your analog T.V. with a coat hanger antenna!!

Leave our wolves alone or else….
      ~May The Ayatollah Of Persia
Lower His Figs Into Your Wife’s Panty Hose~

And don’t try to antagonize me or else
I’ll put another curse on you.

I’ve already put curses on Otter, Dayton,
      Walker and their political henchmen,
and even the USFWS, and I’ll put more
      hexes and curses on these
bureaucratic serpents and ALL of your wolf-hating,
      blaspheming redneck buddies until they
      cease to exist!!

Our Earth would be a lot better off without
a bunch of stupid redneck white-trash trophy hunters
and trappers destroying Nature’s wonders and
pushin’ us warriors of the Wolf Nations around.

    • WiZaRd Of The Wolf Nation says:

      And one more thing, Clint..
We’re not gonna conform to your
      right-wing ideological dogma!!

We’re gonna do what it takes to
save our wolves until they are protected
again and for all time or until this old
Earth is blown to Kingdom Come,
      whichever comes first!!

    • No… Actually money and pleasure is the real reason behind animal cruelty… Corrupt country and world officials come up with some really good justifications for certain cruel acts against animals in return for money from elite individuals and companies to continue trophy hunting, to sustain luxury fur, foie gras businesses etc… BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars are at stake here… Do you think these people are just gonna sit around and watch them disappear? No! THEY ARE GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! It has always been about money… Not some agenda 21, animal management shit etc they all are throwing at us!

  8. Billy Angus says:

Wolves have been on this Earth
    long before man even existed!
Our Creator put them here for a reason!
All those stupid freaky Far Right
    redneck wolf-haters can build
    themselves a time portal,
leave the year 2012 A.D. and go back
to the 19th Century and remain in that
    primitive barbaric era since
    they’re not willing
to evolve with the rest of us in the
    modern 21st Century.

    And one other footnote:
    Governor “Butcher Otter” sucks!!!
    The NRA sucks!!!
And all the sadistic hunters and trappers suck!!!
They can all burn in the fiery Abyss of Hades!!!

  9. Michael Guest says:

I am asking you to stop killings on wolves. It is hindering their recovery. Please shut it down.

  11. curtis pack says:

Its a shame that wolfs has to die because poeple wants to kill them

  12. verettejones says:

I hate people killing these animals it just makes me so mad

  13. Stop the killing of wolfs

  14. Gerri Epping says:

Stop the slaughter of these beautiful animals !

  15. michelle kershaw says:

the very fact that these animals are being put through terrible suffering before dying tells me that you bloodthirsty bastards are getting a massive kick out of this! this is not culling an animal bwcause you believe they are overpopulated and the lands they live in would be better and healthier if there were less wolves, you are doing this for sport, because you all have a very aggressive, violent and inhumane gene you was born with that somehow tells you it is ok to do this to a living creature, it is not! karma will come for you to restore the balance then mother nature will restore the balance with her wolves!!!!!!

  16. Michael Guest says:

This is unfair. The management of wolves is bad. I insist that this hunting be stopped for good. Take further action now.

  17. Smart move Idaho pissing off people who buy your product.
No meat brought, farms go under, wolves win.
