Maximum Punishment to Lawmaker Charged With Child Prostitution

Target: Mr. Greg Mashburn, District Attorney of the Cleveland County

Goal: Demand the maximum punishment under the law for lawmaker charged with child prostitution.

An Oklahoma lawmaker is accused of child prostitution as he was caught with a 17-year old teenager in a motel room. Republican Senator Ralph Shortey resigned from his post, saying he did not want to be a “distraction” to his colleagues in the State Senate. What should not be a distraction, however, is that Senator Shortey has not admitted any wrongdoing, even though there is evidence against him. Furthermore, it should not be dismissed that Mr. Shortey has a record as a staunch conservative, family values politician. In a time of growing conservatism and populism, it is important that he is held accountable under the law and that the danger of his alleged hypocrisy is brought to light.

Throughout his public life, Mr. Shortey has been a fierce advocate of anti-immigration and anti-abortion positions and ran against legislation that lowered penalties for nonviolent drug possession from felony to misdemeanor. He has volunteered for 17 years with the Oklahoma City YMCA’s Youth and Government Program and come to ridicule when proposed a bill outlawing the use of aborted fetuses in food. He was also an early outspoken Trump supporter. With this long record of alleged family values, the self-praising married father was nonetheless caught by the police posessing marijuana and with an underage boy. In the motel room, cops reportedly found lotion and an open box of condoms. A later search of the teen’s tablet allegedly uncovered a series of sexually explicit messages, with expressions such as “baby boy” and references to cash in exchange for “sexual stuff.”

Mr. Shortey is out on bail, and besides the child prostitution account, he is being charged with engaging in prostitution within 1,000 feet of a church and transporting a minor for prostitution/lewdness. His case is an eye-opening alert and proves that while state representatives want to legislate our bodies and behavior, they might be involved in wicked, immoral practices themselves. Sign the petition to say that if Mr. Shortey is proven guilty, justice should be undeniably brought to this case. A maximum punishment will set an important example and a warning that conservative discourses can be extremely deceiving.

Dear Mr. Mashburn,

I demand that your office dedicates high attention to the case of former legislator Ralph Shortey, recently allegedly caught with an underage boy in a motel room and charged with child prostitution, engaging in prostitution within 1,000 feet of a church, and transporting a minor for prostitution/lewdness. For years, Mr. Shortey has been an advocate of conservative family values and, yet, he seems to have engaged in vicious, wicked acts that harmed others.

In a time of growing conservatism and populism, it is important that any hypocrite figures and their deceiving positions are brought to light. I urge you to demand the maximum punishment under the law if Mr. Shortey is convicted.

    ban minor prostitution right now!

  2. Wow! When I see things like this, it makes sense why congress won’t pass the federal law regarding beastality being illegal. Disgusting! Please prosecute this Senator to the fullest extent of law. Obviously he is a predator. We need to make him an example.

  3. Kristin Peterson says:

    Absolutely disgusting!
Prosecute him to the fullest of the law.
This is typical behavior of a true supporter of Mr Donald Trump, as Mr Trump thinks he can sexually assault & harass women and commit rape yet thinks it’s ok and excusable.

    Too much corruption in politics!

  4. Beth Marie says:

A DISTRICT ATTORNEY! So, is he on administrative leave, is he walking free?? I am so angry! Sick and tired of police, state and government officials breaking the law.

    • Beth Marie says:

Mistake, he is a Senator! Maybe Oklahoma needs to drain the swamp. He’s out on bail? How does that work, a regular citizen would be incarcerated!

  5. Paulette Mirfield says:

Family values, conservative? Hypocritical “do as I say, not as I do”. Yet he speaks for the women of his state? Sadly, I expect nothing better from these types.
