Protect Arts, Humanities, and Public Media from Trump

Target: Donald Trump, President of the United States

Goal: Demand President Trump stop attacking arts and humanities in his budget plan.

President Trump’s budget plan is calling for massive cuts to agencies that fund the arts, humanities, and public media. This includes but is not limited to the elimination of the National Endowment for the Arts and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which have been in existence for decades and are highly important. Trump insists that the American people share his desire to invest tens of billions more in military spending at the expense of the arts and other vital public programs.

This is completely unacceptable. Arts, humanities, and public media are vital to this country’s well-being. Not only is this yet another example of Trump selfishly putting his own interests and desires above the well-being of the American people, but it has been proven for decades that the arts, humanities, and public media have done far more to benefit American citizens than the strong, militaristic image Trump wants to promote.

Arts, humanities, and public media need our support now more than ever. They are what make this country great; they encourage thinking, creativity, development, and growth in people all across the world. Sign this petition to demand Trump leave these programs alone.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. President,

Your latest budget cuts attacking the arts, humanities, and public media programs in this country are completely unacceptable. These three departments are vital to America’s well-being, including the education of millions of children. They do not deserve to be destroyed just so you and your administration can promote the image of a strong, defensive, militaristic country.

Once again, you are proving to care more for your own interests than for those of the everyday American people. They are the ones who make up the majority of America, the ones who believed you would “make America great again” and voted for you based on that promise. They did not vote for the arts to be decimated, nor did they vote for more military strength in a time of peace.

Please rework your budget plan entirely so that the arts, humanities, and public media programs do not have to suffer. Do not take money from departments and programs that need it the most.

Sincerely,
