Justice for Innocent Mother Allegedly Beaten and Detained by Police

Target: Ayodele Fayose, Governor of Ekiti

Goal: Fire police who allegedly attacked a mother while she was nursing her baby.

A woman with a new baby was reportedly beaten and detained by about five police officers for refusing to give a bribe at a checkpoint. Reports say that the victim, Toyin Adeyeye, had her 2-month-old baby and her younger brother with her during the horrific event. Mrs. Adeyeye was left with scars on her face and back from the brutal attack. It seems the officer didn’t even care that his violent behavior put the life of an innocent baby in danger.

The state commissioner of police, Abdullahi Chafe, has gone on to defend the actions of his officers, claiming that the victim slapped one of the officers. It seems clear that this possible case of violence against women will be ignored. That is why it’s imperative that we pressure the authorities to do the right thing and take a stand against this. Please add your signature to the petition below demanding that the policemen be fired if found guilty of brutalizing Mrs. Adeyeye.

Dear Governor Fayose,

A mother was reportedly beaten and detained by five police officers because she refused to give a bribe during a checkpoint. According to reports, the victim had her 2-month-old baby and younger brother with her, but that didn’t stop the officer.

There’s no excuse for policemen to behave in such a violent manner toward an innocent woman, and it’s even more appalling that it occurred in front of her baby who could’ve also been harmed during the event. Unfortunately, it appears that the police commissioner has chosen to defend the officer. We, the undersigned, demand that the officers involved be fired indefinitely, if guilty.

  1. I hope that the state commissioner of police is not the one investigating this case, as he is already biased against this woman. There needs to be an INDEPENDENT investigation or this woman doesn’t have a chance. Cops stick up for each other.
