Punish Man Accused of Starving 12 Dogs

Target: Allison Pritchard Kizer, Prosecuting Attorney for Lowndes County, Mississippi

Goal: Demand maximum punishment for man accused of starving 12 dogs nearly to death.

Twelve dogs were recently rescued from a yard where they were reportedly kept in dangerous and neglectful conditions. Some of the animals were found chained to trees, cars, or other objects, while others were stuck in hazardous makeshift enclosures. Officials say that the animals were found severely malnourished, without any food or water left for them.

The owner of the home where the dogs were found, 47-year-old Anthony Cochran, has previously had animals removed from his property. Another large set of dogs found in similar condition were rescued by the Lowndes County Humane Society. That time, Cochran escaped animal cruelty charges by making claims that the dogs were not his to take care of.

The most recent group of dogs rescued is currently being rehabilitated by the Humane Society. They will require deworming as well as lots of food and monitoring in order to get them into shape to be adopted. With a court case pending, the dogs will not be able to be adopted until the proceedings have ended.

This appears to be the second instance of dog abuse committed by this man. In order to protect animals from further abuse, he must be punished and banned from animal ownership. Sign the petition below to demand that prosecutors seek the maximum possible penalty against this offender, if he is found guilty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mrs. Pritchard Kizer,

A man is facing several charges of animal cruelty after 12 malnourished dogs were found on his property. The dogs were found chained to trees and other heavy objects throughout the yard or trapped in makeshift enclosures. All of the dogs were emaciated and malnourished, and there was no food or water to be found on the property. Previously, another set of dogs in similar condition were removed from the man’s property, but he did not face animal cruelty charges.

This man appears to be a repeat offender. If nothing is done, it’s likely that more dogs will be subjected to the same abusive treatment. For this reason, it’s important that this man is punished to the fullest extent of the law. We also ask that you seek a lifetime ban on animal ownership for this man, if he is found guilty.

Sincerely,
