Dear Prosecuting Attorney O’Toole,
A Sikh man was shot in the arm by an unidentified masked man. The masked man made xenophobic remarks during the attack. We demand justice for this innocent man.
“Tone matters in our political discourse, because this a matter of life or death for millions of Americans who are worried about losing loved ones to hate,” stated Sikh Coalition interim program manager Rajdeep Singh Jolly. Members of the Puget-Sound area Sikh community have reported a rise in verbal abuse and uncomfortable encounters unlike any they’ve seen in years.
This crime cannot go unpunished. We demand that you prosecute this case as a hate crime and assign the maximum penalty by law.
