Dear State Attorney Kelly,
A dog was allegedly strangled with a plastic bag and stabbed with a box cutter until she died. Belleville city workers found her mangled body in a wooded area. We demand justice for this innocent dog.
“We are investigating this as a cruelty to animal case. We are not releasing photos. It’s to a degree that is very disturbing,” stated Capt. John Moody of the Belleville Police Department. A single photo of the dog’s paw, with her nails painted pink and yellow, circulated throughout the community until a suspect was identified. Belleville police have not disclosed the suspect’s relationship to the dog, but state that he was familiar with her.
This dog died a horrific death and deserves justice. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.
