Target: The United States Food and Drug Administration
Goal: To stop requiring unnecessary product testing on animals.
Millions of animals, such as mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, and dogs, are currently imprisoned in small, cold caged in laboratories across the United States. They spend their lives in constant physical and emotional pain, fearing the continued testing that is done to them. It is unbelievably cruel to treat any animals this way, let alone millions. The United Stated Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires that most new drugs are tested on animals before being tested on humans. Animals and humans are not the same. Even if a new drug is found safe for a dog, that does not mean it will be safe for a human, because of this animal testing is largely unnecessary.
Animals are used, because the testing is quicker and less costly. Using animals hastens drug approval, because the animals can be contained for constant monitoring. If the drugs work on the animals they may be approved, even though it does not mean the drug will work on humans. Animal drug testing also works to protect drug companies from liabilities. If the drug harms a human they can testify that it was found to be safe when tested on animals.
Please, help stop the torture of animals and urge the FDA to stop requiring cruel animal testing.
Dear U.S. Food and Drug Administration,
Animal testing is cruel and unnecessary. Millions of animals spend their lives in physical and emotional pain, because of animal testing, because the FDA requires most new drugs be tested on animals. The way an animal reacts to a drug does not reflect how a human will react. Animal testing does not prove a drug is safe or effective. Animal testing is done because it saves drug companies money.
Animal testing is used because it is quicker and less costly to the pharmaceutical companies. The animals can be contained, controlled, and constantly monitored, which hastens the drug trial and approval. Animal testing also protects the companies from some liabilities. If their drug harms a human they can testify that the drug did not harm the animals it was tested on. This is deeply flawed, because animals and humans are different, so of course they will react differently.
Please, help stop animal abuse by no longer requiring cruel and unnecessary animal testing.
