Target: President Donald Trump
Goal: Do not create oppressive, racist special task force for “immigrant crime.”
In his speech to Congress, President Trump announced his intention to form a new agency to confront “immigrant crime,” and to regularly publish a public list of all crimes committed by non-U.S. citizens. Furthermore, this does not seem to refer only to undocumented migrants but to anyone who has moved to the United States from another country.
This is the culmination of the law Trump signed just days into his presidency, promising an extensive public list of crimes committed by “aliens,” which rightfully was met with huge criticism and backlash. Trump says that the new office, Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE), is meant to serve American victims who have been silenced by special interests and ignored by the media. It will fall under the jurisdiction of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which will publish the list of crimes.
This does nothing to help any so-called American victims. It is a blatant violation of the human rights of immigrants. Sign below to denounce the formation of this new agency.
Dear President Trump,
America is a country made up of immigrants, which is our biggest strength and is what makes America great. The formation of an immigrant crime agency, and the publishing of a public list of any crime committed by a migrant, is a clear violation of human rights.
America is strong when its citizens are united. A violation of human rights like this, which seems to not only apply to undocumented immigrants but to anyone who has moved to this country just as all of our families did at one time or another, is a violation of the rights of all Americans. I urge you not to form this unconstitutional agency.
