Target: Charles Schumer, United States Senator
Goal: Protect benefits for the disabled, the elderly, and the poor across the country.
Thanks to the Trump administration’s attempts to destroy affordable health care, there has been a lot of fear that the same will go for social security benefits, the SNAP program, and anything else used by the disabled and the elderly. Millions of people struggle to make ends meet due to physical or mental disabilities, or simply being too old to work anymore. They need the aid of these programs to survive. However, the Trump administration prioritizes business and profit above the needs of the people, thus creating the worry that they will cut funding for these programs in order to keep as much money for themselves as possible.
Whether this is a definite plan of theirs or an unfounded fear among the citizens, it is still an issue that must be addressed and a crisis that must be prevented as much as possible. We need to protect social security, SNAP and other such programs for the people who truly need them. The disabled, the elderly, and the poor have as much right to live comfortably and to survive as the able-bodied, the young, and the wealthy. Sign this petition to ensure that these helpful programs will remain protected and available.
Dear Senator Schumer,
Americans fear that the Trump administration will destroy all necessary financial aid programs used by the disabled, the elderly, and the poverty-stricken. The constant attacks on affordable health care are terrifying enough, as is the administration’s blatant favoring of business and profit over the needs of the people. Too many Americans need social security and other similar benefits to live comfortably, and they do not deserve to have that taken from them.
Please implement and enforce a law to protect benefit programs meant to aid those in need. Nobody should be punished for being disabled, elderly, or poor. They have just as much right to survive and live comfortably as anyone else, and these programs are designed solely to help them. Please ensure that they will be treated with respect and kindness by protecting the programs set in place to aid them.
