Punish Cop for Discharging Gun During Dispute Over Walking on Grass

Target: Xavier Becerra, California Attorney General

Goal: Punish the off-duty police officer who was shown on video allegedly attacking a teenager and then discharging his gun while holding the boy near his friends.

A video making the rounds on social media appears to show an off-duty Los Angeles police officer attacking a teenage boy and discharging his gun near a group of the boy’s friends. While the Los Angeles Police Department is launching an internal investigation, the officer has not been arrested and these internal investigations almost always go nowhere. Demand state officials investigate this case and punish the officer for his reckless behavior.

Although the reason for the confrontation has not been confirmed, there have been reports that it started because the officer was upset with the students walking on his lawn, or that the officer verbally assaulted the teenage boy’s female friend.

The video appears to show the plainclothes officer grabbing the boy and dragging him around his yard by his hoodie as the boy and a group of his friends beg the officer to let go. Some of the boy’s friends tried to grab him and pull him free, and that’s when the officer dragged the boy into some hedges and discharged his gun.

This is absolutely unacceptable behavior from a police officer who should be trained to deescalate situations, especially those involving kids. These actions, which could have been fatal, cannot go without consequences. Demand officials investigate the case and punish the officer for his dangerous conduct.

Dear Attorney General Becerra,

A video appears to show an off-duty police officer in Anaheim attacking a teenage boy, dragging him around, and then discharging his gun while holding the boy near his friends. Despite however this altercation may have started, there is no reason why the officer should have behaved like this and came so close to potentially killing or severely injuring teenagers.

Police brutality is a significant issue in this country and can’t go unaddressed, especially when involving kids. I demand you investigate this case and punish the officer to the full extent of the law.

  1. This cop has proved himself on video to be VIOLENT and DANGEROUS to others. Why was he not arrested and locked up like any other violent, dangerous person would be? Well, maybe police corruption… maybe they are all like that.

  2. Kathryn Irby says:

Sick and tired of damn cops throwing their weight around!!! They MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!!!!

  3. Sick and tired of senseless hooligans with no idea of right or wrong rampaging over other peoples’ property causing damage and nuisance- about time they were taught a lesson.

  4. top & pursue this criminal rabble and this deformity  –  instantly!

Not humane than barbaric, really stupid and worthless criminal and ignorant ASSHOLES, which should be banned on an island for their whole lives! Or not?

It’s time hold all those responsible for authorizing and overseeing the implementation of torture against fellow EARTH inhabitants & creatures accountable. A special prosecutor is the most comprehensive way to do that.

  5. BEFORE we all lynch this cop, lets hear both sides, OK?????

  6. Good comment, Lajeanne. I’ve seen the video which shows him in the process of being attacked by several teens…at which point he draws his gun and fires a warning shot. Now if these snowflake commenters don’t believe that “teens” can hurt or kill an adult just check youtube. An off duty cop holds the same authority as an on duty cop, people. I simply can’t believe the anti-police attitudes in this once great country. Oh, and I’m not a cop…I’m a fireman!

  7. Gen Lovyet Agustsson says:

    no more guns!

  8. Sometimes people start stupid petitions. It is being investigated! Personally I would have feared for my life if I had a mob like that to deal with. Wait and see before you condemn the cop. If my son acted like those teens I would have kicked his arse. Start a more meaningful petition!!!! B Danno, I noted you never mentioned about the violence and potential violence of the mob. Glad it was recorded so he has evidence of those little shits! No respect these days. Just mob mentality.

    • Sandra Zaninovich says:

    • It looks like the kids are just trying to help their friend whom the cop is violently dragging around. The cop looks totally deranged. You labeling the kids as a “mob” is prejudicial.

      • So Mr. Denno…just what do YOU call a group of teenage thugs intent on hurting this off duty cop? I think “mob” is pretty accurate!

        • There is no indication I can see that the teenagers are thugs or a mob. From the video it seems plain that the cop is the one who is intent on hurting someone – the guy he’s violently dragging around. The onlookers look afraid of the cop, not of the teens.
I don’t appreciate your hostile and aggressive tone, which you always seem to have when you comment, and am no longer going to reply to you, Frank.

          • Actually Mr. Denno, I don’t believe you have ever replied to me before. But if asking pertinent questions or making honest comments based on experience and training tend to bother you then it’s your right to remain silent!

Get all the Facts before judging

          • Good point Alicia. Point: He’s a cop and has arrest powers on or off duty. Point: He has this kid detained legally. Point: The other thugs try to assault the policeman and he fires a warning shot. Point: That action probably saved him from a violent attack.

  9. Sandra Zaninovich says:

So, obviously whoever started this petition has his/her head up his/her arse. I live where this incident occurred, this man lives in the home with his elderly parents, to whom he is a caretaker. The local news interviewed his neighbors, who all vouched for his kindly nature and the fact that he and his elderly parents have been terrorized by these neighborhood hooligan kids for a long time. Personally I was so incensed hearing about this, I couldn’t believe his restraint. Had it been me, and in fear for my elderly parents, I would have wanted to shoot them all dead. This makes me very wary of signing petitions on here before researching them carefully. From now on I will be doing just that.

    • Christine Jones says:

I’ve been caught before, and I also have decided to take more care in signing petitions. Everyone has an agenda, and “facts”, even videos, can be interpreted in different ways. I’d rather err on the side of caution and wait until all the facts come out.

    • Alicia Becerril Alicia Becerril says:

you are the one with your head up your ass! We are not on the wild west were you just shoot people for walking on your grass, if you are in favor of the gestapo police, start your own petition and get the fuck out here, you and all the idiots who support killer cops…you cunt!

      • Just when I thought you were talking sensibly! Does your mother know you talk like that??

        • Hahahaha yes Frank, people who have no other way of getting their point across except with the “c” and “f” words obviously leave a lot to be desired in the morals, ethics, and brains departments.

      • Lovely language you use there Alicia, I can tell you’re very eloquent, well-educated, thoughtful and compassionate. And also very intelligent, based on the fact that you state that he was “shooting people walking on his grass.” He very clearly aimed the gun at the ground, despite the fact that he was surrounded and outnumbered by people who were menacing and threatening him, and would have had the right to shoot directly at them, as I would have in that situation, as you would have as well if you had any sense (which you quite clearly don’t). Maybe wise up and grow up a bit before posting, eh? Best of luck to you with that.
