Stop Animal Abusers from Owning Animals

Target: Richard Corcoran, Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives

Goal: Demand that the Florida House of Representatives pass a new bill that would prevent convicted animal abusers from adopting or buying animals.

Convicted animal abusers could soon be prevented from buying or adopting animals thanks to a bill up for vote in the Florida House of Representatives. The bill would create a public registry available for use by pet stores, breeders and shelters. Take a stand against animal abuse and demand that the House of Representatives pass this bill.

Not only would this bill publicly list the names of all convicted animal abusers in Florida, but it would also sanction any breeder, pet store, or shelter that provides an animal to a convicted abuser. The names would remain on the registry for two years. If the abuser is convicted of a second animal cruelty charge, then their name would remain on the list for an additional five years.

Sign below and demand that the Florida House of Representative pass this bill for the health and safety of all animals.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Speaker Corcoran,

HB 871, a bill preventing convicted animal abusers from owning animals, will soon be brought to vote. We demand that you pass this bill and give animals a fighting chance.

HB 871 would create an online registry of people convicted of felony animal cruelty, animal fighting, or sexual activities involving animals. Pet stores, shelters, and breeders who sell to a person on this registry would face a second-degree misdemeanor on their first offense. This would increase to a first-degree misdemeanor on the second offense and three days in jail and a $2,500 fine on a third.

Take a stand against animal abuse and pass HB 871.

Sincerely,

Once an animal abuser always one so they must be registered publicly as one and if found again with any animal they should be abused in the same way!!!!
