Justice for Dog Abandoned in Parking Lot

Target: Bruce Barstad, Chief of the Glasgow Police Department

Goal: Find and charge person who abandoned a dog near a busy street.

A dog was recently pushed out of a car and left in the parking lot of a Glasgow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) rehoming center. The black and tan dog was left without a crate or a leash, roaming free near a busy street. Had a concerned onlooker not caught and taken care of the dog until the center opened, it’s likely that the animal would have wandered away or even been hit by a car.

The dog, now named Jack by shelter staff, was terrified and tried to run away from the witness onto a nearby busy road. People were able to chase him into a fenced garden and get a leash on him in order to lead him away. He was then transferred to the charity’s rescue center, where he received a checkup. He was found to be suffering from a chronic ear infection, but was otherwise in good condition.

The SPCA is currently looking for anyone who has more information about the person who abandoned Jack. While surrendering an animal is a compassionate thing to do when an owner can’t properly take care of it, it’s important that pet owners go through the correct channels to ensure the safety of the animal. The callous abandonment of this dog could have led to it wandering away and becoming homeless, or worse, it being hit by a car. Sign the petition below to demand that the person responsible for this cruel abandonment is found and charged with animal cruelty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Barstad,

A dog was recently found abandoned in the parking lot of an SPCA rehoming center during closed hours. A witness says that the dog was pushed out of a car and left to roam the parking lot without a crate or a leash. The scared animal tried to wander onto a busy street, but onlookers were fortunately able to corner him and leash him. The dog, now named Jack, was found to be suffering from a chronic ear infection.

While surrendering animals is a good way for owners to ensure that their pets get proper care if they are unable to provide it, it’s important that it’s done properly. This dog could have wandered away and become homeless, or even been hit by a car, had witnesses not stopped to help. We, the undersigned, ask that you work diligently to find and punish the person responsible for this callous abandonment.

Sincerely,

  1. Sorry to whoever came up with this petition and was trying to do good, but this petition should be aimed at the police chief in the original Glasgow in SCOTLAND and not in the USA.

It should be aimed at Chief Superintendent McInulty the Divisional Commander in Glasgow. See this site for details http://www.scotland.police.uk/your-community/greater-glasgow/

  2. I hopefully whoever came up with the petition reads the message and can change who its aimed at and good luck.
