Justice For Woman Stabbed To Death In Her Home

Target: Mthandazo Berning Ntlemeza, Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations

Goal: Justice for mother brutally stabbed to death in her own home.

Tanya Wiers, a mother of three in South Africa, was stabbed multiple times and had her eyes gouged out in a home robbery invasion. A family friend described the scene as “like something out of a horror movie,” it was evident that Tanya had fought for her life as she was assaulted, ultimately losing the fight. It is yet unknown whether the murder was intended or if the robbers attacked Wiers when she tried to defend the family’s possessions.

The fact that such a horrific murder took place is as gruesome as the scene was described. An innocent mother, struggling to keep her life and failing, discovered dead in her youngest daughter’s room. There have been several reports of a rise in violence against women in South Africa, and this is a particularly disturbing example. Even if the culprits face justice, there is too great a chance something like this will happen again.

Wiers’s family deserves justice, and other women across South Africa deserve the protection from violent attacks such as this one. Sign this petition to demand that the culprits be made an example of, so that further steps can be taken to curtail the violence against women in South Africa.

Dear Lieutenant General Ntlemeza,

A mother of three was gruesomely murdered in her own home, presumably protecting her family and their possessions from theft. According to descriptions of the scene, she put up a fight before ultimately losing her life, and now her family is forced to cope with the devastating loss as well as the knowledge that Tanya Wiers’s death was a drawn-out and painful one.

This is yet another example of the horrors women face all over the world, of the violence enacted against them. It is entirely too possible that this woman was murdered for daring to try to protect her family from theft, and it is completely unacceptable. Your country is facing alarming rates of violence against women, and you must do more to put a stop to it. Please ensure that the perpetrators of this crime are made an example of, that they face justice and that you take further steps to prevent other women from being brutalized as Wiers was.

  1. There must be justice for her,and protection for the public from the maniac that murdered her.

  2. Rosslyn Osborne says:

May God rest her soul and comfort her family. These thieves and murders need to be brought to justice!
“The woman is indeed of the greater importance to the race. She has the greater burden and the greater work. Look at the vegetable and the animal worlds. The palm which carries the fruit is the tree most prized by the date grower. The Arab knows that for a long journey the mare has the longest wind. For her greater strength and fierceness, the lioness is more feared by the hunter than the lion. …The woman has greater moral courage than the man; she has also special gifts which enable her to govern in moments of danger and crisis. If necessary she can become a warrior.”…
“Taken in general, women today have a stronger sense of religion than men. The woman’s intuition is more correct; she is more receptive and her intelligence is quicker. The day is coming when woman will claim her superiority to man”. Baha’i faith Writings
