Target: Ryan Zinke, Trump Administration’s Nominee for the Department of the Interior
Goal: Stop delaying the rusty patched bumblebee’s addition to the endangered species list.
A Trump Administration order has forced the delay of the rusty patched bumblebee’s addition to the endangered species list. If the White House continues to delay the addition of this endangered species to the list, it will hasten its extinction.
The announcement late last year that the bee would be added to the list caused great celebration among conservationists because it would be the first bumblebee under federal protection. The bee’s population in some areas has fallen by 87 percent. If action is not taken, it will drop further.
The small insect has a tremendous impact on our environment. The White House made the delay in order to review regulations. However the administration has already shown itself to be one that does not have the well-being of our environment and its endangered species in mind. Sign the petition and let nominated Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke know that you expect him to continue the Department of the Interior’s mission to save this bumblebee.
Dear Mr. Zinke,
Conservationists rejoiced when the rusty patched bumblebee, which holds an extremely important role in our environment by pollinating our flowers and fruits, was added to the endangered species list. However Donald Trump has delayed this move until the White House has time to look closer at the regulation.
The bee’s population has already decreased by 87 percent and continues to decline. If this delay is not brought to an end, Trump will be responsible for the death of an entire species. This bee is pivotal to our environment and must be protected. If you are appointed Secretary of the Interior, it will be your duty to ensure that endangered species like the rusty patched bumblebee are protected. I demand that you do your duty and end this delay once you take office.
