Success: Innocent Man Finally Pardoned After Mike Pence’s Neglect

Target: Eric Holcomb, Governor of Indiana

Goal: Applaud pardon of innocent man who was falsely convicted of armed robbery.

A historic pardon request has finally been fulfilled after years of neglect by Mike Pence. Eric Holcomb, successor to Pence, promised during his governor’s debate that he would grant the pardon of Keith Cooper, a man who spent 10 years in prison for a robbery he did not commit. Due to pressure from Cooper’s family, activists and this ForceChange petition, he made good on his word.

DNA testing proved that he was not responsible for the crime but he took a plea deal so that he could reunite with his family, who had often been homeless during his incarceration. With a criminal charge still on his record, Cooper still had trouble supporting his family but now he can get back to living the life he deserves. Sign this petition to thank Holcomb for pardoning this innocent man.

Dear Governor Holcomb,

I am writing to thank you for doing the right thing by pardoning Keith Cooper. As you know, he has waited far too long for the day that he would have the same freedoms the rest of us enjoy. A decade in prison does not even begin to describe the struggles Cooper and his family have been though. But thanks to your decision, they can get back to their lives.

Cooper was proven innocent years ago, yet Pence refused to acknowledge that the request was valid. You are a better governor for having shown that you are willing to do your job and be rational in cases like this. Thank you once again for pardoning this innocent man.

  1. Kathryn Irby says:

Given Pence’s negligence regarding that case, it’s a given that he also will be negligent/irresponsible as a so-called “Vice President.” No surprise there!

  2. It’s about time this innocent man was pardoned, NO thanks to Mike Pence.
