Justice for Pit Bulls Allegedly Injured in Dog Fighting Ring

Target: Richard Brown, District Attorney for Queens, New York

Goal: Demand the maximum penalty for woman who allegedly trained her four pit bulls to fight in a dog fighting ring.

NYPD detectives found four pit bulls trapped in stacked cages with no access to food or water. According to reports from a veterinarian, the dogs had injuries consistent with dog fighting. Take a stand against dog fighting and demand justice for these innocent dogs.

A veterinarian with the ASPCA examined the dogs and reported a long list of injuries. Scars, infected cuts, teeth fractures, broken claws, an ear flap injury, a gum tissue wound, and a red blood cell parasite were just the beginning. The dogs also appeared severely underweight, and their ribs were visible through their skin.

The ASPCA took custody of the dogs and is providing them with veterinary care. Cherise Mickens, the reported owner of the dogs, was charged with animal fighting and torturing animals. She could face up to four years in prison if convicted. Sign below and demand the maximum sentence in this case.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Brown,

Four pit bulls were discovered in a garage in Far Rockaway, their bodies covered in infected cuts and bite marks. NYPD detectives suspect that the dogs were part of a dog fighting ring. We demand justice for these innocent dogs.

Per police reports, detectives also discovered dog fighting paraphernalia in the garage. A “slat mill,” a treadmill often used to train dogs, and two “break sticks,” tools used to release a pit bull’s grip on another animal, were found not far from where the dogs were kept. The tools were reportedly covered in blood.

Dog fighting is torture. In addition to being a cruel and unusual practice, dog fighting is often a death sentence for the animals involved, due to the severity of sustained injuries. The owner of these pit bulls has been charged with animal cruelty — if she is found guilty, we demand that you stand firmly against dog fighting and assign the maximum penalty in her case.

Sincerely,

  1. Throw the book at this worthless bitch!!! She has no business ever being around any animals again!!! Four years isn’t enough for the animal cruelty abuse these animals have endured in their short lives. Eye for an eye, her punishment should be her crimes! Cage her up and let her fight for her life as the dogs had to….POS loser!

  4. Rosslyn Osborne says:

At least 10 years for each dog for now, if records show she has had other then just keep adding the years! She must be kept out of society due to her mentality of loving torture and causing agony. Also for the protection of children, she is a huge endangerment to all!
