Target: Nancy Pelosi, House of Representatives Minority Leader
Goal: Do not allow Clean Air Act to be rewritten to exclude toxic emissions from list of regulated air pollutants.
114 House Republicans are trying to change the standards of the Clean Air Act so that “the term ‘air pollutant’ does not include carbon dioxide…methane, nitrous oxide,” or a number of other common and dangerous pollutants. Despite overwhelming scientific evidence that these types of emissions have a direct correlation to the planet’s rising temperatures, Republicans continue to fight against important environmental regulations. Omitting pollutants like methane from the Clean Air Act will only protect fossil fuel industries and mega corporations, while our planet suffers the consequences.
Climate change is one of the greatest threats and challenges that humanity has ever faced. Every possible measure must be taken to combat it — but a faction of greedy politicians would rather push the environment closer to the point of no return. Sign below to tell Congress that this violation of clean air is absolutely unacceptable.
Dear Congresswoman Pelosi,
I am appalled by the House Republicans’ attempt to rewrite the Clean Air Act. The bill, supported by no fewer than 114 House Republicans, aims to exclude carbon emissions and other harmful substances from the definition of air pollutants, thus protecting fossil fuel industries rather than the planet.
Now more than ever before, it is crucial that those in power take every possible action to protect our fragile planet. I sincerely hope that you and the rest of the Democratic Representatives will preserve the noble intentions of the Clean Air Act and vote against this highly irresponsible bill.
