Don’t Allow Drilling in Our National Parks

Target: Paul Gosar, Arizona Congressman

Goal: Don’t allow further drilling in national parks.

Natural gas and oil drilling could soon be made legal due to a bill that would redefine limitations for development in National parks. The environment needs our protection now more than ever and it is time we speak up.

Excessive drilling could lead to damage on surface lands and water. Some of the parks in danger include the Everglades National Park, the Grand Teton National Park and the Grand Canyon National Recreational Area. In addition, Representative Gosar has received $250,000 from Big Energy and it is clear his concerns are not with our delicate environment, but instead with profit and alliances.

Sign this petition to demand the government keep our national parks safe from human intervention. The world is becoming more and more industrialized and we must make an effort to keep some of our earth’s lands untouched.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Representative Gosar,

You recently introduced a bill which would loosen the limitations and allow for oil and natural gas drilling in our national parks. Our national parks are precious and they need our protection, rather than more exploitation.

Excessive drilling could lead to damage on surface lands and water. Scientists have estimated that 83 percent of the earth’s land has human influence and it is important we keep the 17 percent untouched for the health of our earth, our own health, and for the millions of other species sharing this land with us.

It is clear your alliances are with Big Energy, considering you have received $250,000 from industry giants. However, once the environment collapses on us, money will no longer be important. Now is the time to protect our environment before it is too late. Please consider keeping our national parks safe rather than exploiting them for profit.

Sincerely,

  1. Isn’t this a conflict of interest, with Paul Gosar receiving money from Big Energy companies, then introducing a bill that would clearly benefit them? Should he not step down because of this?

  2. Anne Moeller Anne Moeller says:

keep all GREEDY oil companies OFF our national lands!!
