Stop Paul Ryan From Allowing Oil Drilling in America’s National Parks

Target: Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House of Representatives

Goal: Do not weaken environmental protections for national parks to allow for dangerous and wasteful drilling.

U.S. national parks are at risk of losing their protection from gas and oil drilling. Over 40 parks that have “split estate” ownership — meaning that the federal government owns the surface but not the rights to minerals and anything below ground level — could lose the safeguards currently in place requiring detailed planning and safety standards before drilling is allowed.

The bill that would repeal these rules is the latest in a succession of attempts to weaken environmental protections for national parks. If it is voted into law, it will not only remove national park protections, but will also prevent agencies outside of Congress from putting similar environmental protections in place in the future. This is a huge violation of the integrity of the lands of our country and a huge threat to the environment. Sign below to demand the protection and preservation of our national parks.

Dear Speaker Ryan,

America’s national parks are an irreplaceable part of our culture and our identity, as well as a vital preservation of the environment. Please do not allow the rules and restrictions that protect them to be repealed for the sake of gas and oil drilling.

The regulations in place that require detailed planning and safety measures are not just reasonable, but necessary for the good of our country. There are over 40 national parks that have “split estate” ownership, and H.J. Res. 46 would be extremely detrimental and dangerous to those valuable lands. I urge you to keep the protections that preserve our lands intact, and not to pass this bill.

  1. If allowed to drill in national parks, oil and gas corporations will destroy and devastate the land and wildlife, making these parks a wasteland.

  2. Gen Lovyet Agustsson says:

alright mr. paul we had enough already!

    • Paul Bazydlo says:

How can you ban someone from something they hold the rights to? Some of the National Parks have only surface property rights. The mineral rights being held by someone other than the government. It would be a rather expensive endeavor to purchase all those rights.

  4. “The human appetite for animal flesh is a driving force behind virtually every major category of environmental damage now threatening the human future – deforestation, erosion, fresh water scarcity, air and water pollution, climate change, biodiversity loss, social injustice, the destabilization of communities and the spread of disease.” — The World Watch Institute

    • I think the real driving force is The Almighty Dollar. As long as they don’t have to live close to the destruction, are able to drink their water and live high, they really dont gove a damn about the people, animals or environment.

  5. Wendy Morrison says:

Get the hell out of all NATIONAL & State PARKS with absolutely NO DRILLIMG!!!!!!!

  6. ALL of his actions in the last few months make me sick.
