Target: Orrin Hatch, President pro tempore of the United States Senate
Goal: Block Trump nominee Neil Gorsuch from the Supreme Court.
Donald Trump has finally announced his pick for the Supreme Court: Neil Gorsuch, who is an extreme right-wing conservative. This man has a long track record of showing bias towards big business over the everyday worker and the general public. He is also against workplace anti-discrimination laws and in favor of police brutality. Furthermore, he supports the right-wing efforts to twist the First Amendment’s statement of religious freedom into the right to discriminate. This is not a man that should be on the Supreme Court.
If allowed to serve, Gorsuch will effectively send women’s rights and LGBT rights back to the dark ages. Women will be treated as lesser beings and denied proper health care and reproductive freedom. LGBT citizens will be treated just as poorly. He cares nothing for the general public; he is just another billionaire funding Trump’s ego.
We cannot allow this man to serve on the Supreme Court, lest our freedoms and all we have worked to obtain over the last eight years be destroyed in one fell swoop. Sign this petition to block Neil Gorsuch from the Supreme Court and protect American freedoms and values.
Dear Senator Hatch,
Donald Trump’s pick for the Supreme Court is an extreme right-wing conservative who is in favor of discrimination, police brutality and shows a bias towards big businesses over the everyday worker. He supports the right-wing’s agenda to twist the First Amendment into a right to discriminate against anyone they see fit.
Neil Gorsuch is, quite possibly, the worst choice to sit on the Supreme Court. He will undoubtedly destroy our freedoms and our core values, encourage discrimination and set America back over 60 years in terms of both women’s and LGBT rights. He will rule in favor of big businesses over the everyday workers who need justice and support more than anything.
You must do everything you can to block him from confirmation or approval. Vote against him, and please encourage others to do likewise. We have worked too hard to obtain certain freedoms and rights over the past eight years to allow this man to take them all away.
