Target: Paul Roby, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Passaic County, New Jersey
Goal: Demand the maximum penalty for the man who allegedly sprayed a baby bird with weed killer, resulting in its death.
A man allegedly sprayed a baby bird with potent weed killer, resulting in the bird’s death. His lawyer stated that there was no proof of a dead bird and that the weed killer was “practically non-toxic to birds.” Demand justice for this innocent bird.
“If you see any three-headed birds flying around, baby birds flying around, they just got sprayed with Roundup… they were cute, but they had to go.” These words were allegedly said by Carlos Luaces while he was wearing a backpack containing the deadly chemical. The West Milford Department of Public Works Superintendent reportedly sprayed the nest, containing one baby bird and three unhatched eggs, when it was perched just outside of the Department of Public Works garage. Other employees at the garage reportedly found the nest with the dead bird inside. They then relocated it to another part of the yard.
Luaces has been placed on administrative leave and charged with one count of animal cruelty. Sign below and demand that Luaces receive the maximum penalty, if found guilty.
Dear Prosecuting Attorney Roby,
A man has been charged with one count of animal cruelty after he allegedly sprayed a baby bird with a dangerous weed killer. He has attempted to have the charge waived. We demand justice for this innocent bird.
The PRO Herbicide weed killer is stronger than Roundup. It even requires a special license for its use. Carlos Luaces allegedly sprayed PRO Herbicide into a bird’s nest located in the West Milford Department of Public Works yard. Witnesses reported that he then joked with them about killing a baby bird. The nest, containing the dead bird, was reportedly found by other employees and moved to a safer location.
This horrific cruelty cannot go unpunished. We demand that you deny Luaces’ plea agreement and seek the maximum penalty by law if he is found guilty.
