Justice for Dog Allegedly Beaten to Death

Target: Nancy G. Par, Commonwealth’s Attorney for Chesapeake, Virginia

Goal: Demand that the man who allegedly beat his dog to death receive the maximum penalty possible.

The body of a battered female pit bull was discovered in the woods behind a Virginia home. According to neighbors, she belonged to the homeowner, a man who was already due in court for charges that his dogs were not properly registered or up to date on their rabies vaccines. This level of negligence is already troubling, and added to the suspicion that he may have been responsible for the pit bull’s death, it seems indubitable that any and all animals should be removed from this man’s custody at once.

Chesapeake police investigated the scene, and while they were able to arrest the homeowner on suspicion of animal cruelty, he initially denied that the dog was his — despite also saying that the dog was “his best friend.” However, there are eyewitness accounts from anonymous residents who claim to have seen the man take the dog out behind his house to the same woods where the dog was later discovered dead and apparently discarded. There is no known motive at this time, but nothing can possibly excuse this appalling and brutal act.

Please sign this petition to demand that the justice system severely punish this man, and prevent him from owning animals in the future.

Dear Commonwealth’s Attorney Par,

A dead dog was discovered near a home in Chesapeake, allegedly having been beaten to death. Its owner, who has denied ownership but also claimed to have known the dog well, was already under suspicion for failing to get his dogs properly registered and vaccinated. At the very least, this demonstrates a lack of responsible pet ownership. If the allegations are true, he has viciously slain an innocent animal.

No one can argue that the manner in which the dog died was extremely cruel. Anyone capable of doing this to their own pet, or to someone else’s, would likely harm other animals in the future and could pose a threat to humans as well. If this man is found guilty, any and all animals in his possession must be removed, and he must be prevented from harming animals in the future. We demand that justice be served in this case, and that this man be punished appropriately.
