Target: Asmahan Dahbali, President of Pax Assist Inc.
Goal: Fire airport managers who allegedly harassed Muslim employees and denied their right to prayer.
The company that provides wheelchair assistance at JFK Airport, Pax Assist Inc., allegedly harassed Muslim employees and denied them the break time for prayer. According to a complaint, after Muslim employees asked for their 10-15 minute breaks to be moved and scheduled in accordance with the Ramadan fast, Pax Inc. supervisors harassed them over a radio system saying “we don’t care about Ramadan. We’ll give you a break on our time, not your time.”
The claims would violate New York City’s human-rights law, but a manager for Pax Inc. told outlets that the claims have no merit, basically blowing off the possible human-rights violations. Sign below to demand that these accusations be fully investigated, and that any parties found guilty of discrimination be held accountable.
Dear Mr. Dahbali,
Supervisors and managers at Pax Assist Inc. have been accused of violating New York City’s human-rights law by discriminating against Muslim employees, and even harassing them over the radio system. Muslim employees were denied their request to have their breaks changed in order to accommodate the Ramadan fast, according to a complaint. Supervisors allegedly told them “we don’t care about Ramadan. We’ll give you a break on our time, not your time.”
Discriminatory and hateful behavior should be met with censure, and punished appropriately. We demand that the accused supervisors be fired, if found guilty of these despicable actions.
