Don’t Kill and Mutilate Goats For Army Training Exercises

Target:  Brigadier General Heather L. Pringle, commander of the 502nd Air Base Wing and Joint Base in San Antonio, Texas

Goal: Don’t allow goats to be mutilated and killed during trauma training exercises at Fort Sam Houston.

According to a whistleblower at Fort Sam Houston, Army Reserve medics will soon be forced to kill and mutilate goats during trauma training exercises. The source says that Army Reserve medics will shoot or stab the goats, and they will then cut the animals open to practice doing surgical procedures. These crude training exercises are unnecessary in the modern age because human simulators are available. In both civilian and army medical studies, these human simulators were proven to teach battlefield medical skills as well as or better than shooting and operating on animals.

Video obtained by PETA shows brutal scenes of goats being mutilated and killed in army training exercises across the country. During the military trauma training, goats allegedly have their limbs fractured and cut off. They have holes cut into their limbs and throat, and they are subjected to landmine blasts and propane burns. The torture these animals are put through is truly horrific, and it is completely unnecessary in the modern age. Many army medical schools and training centers do not use live animals anymore, including Alfred V. Rascon School of Combat Medicine at Fort Campbell and the Navy Trauma Training Center.

With superior modern technology available, there is no reason to kill goats during army medical training. Sign this petition to demand that Fort Sam Houston does not go through with their alleged plan to use goats in their training exercises.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Brigadier General Pringle,

I’m writing to urge you not to use live goats in your Army Reserve medic training. During this training, goats are allegedly shot, stabbed, and have their limbs cut off. The animals are also reportedly subjected to propane burns and landmine blasts. All of this cruelty is completely unnecessary in modern times, when there are human simulators available.

Numerous army medical schools and bases have stopped using goats in their training because human simulators are better for teaching battlefield medical skills. Many leading medical and veteran organizations, including the American Osteopathic Association and the National Medical Association, have joined campaigns against the practice of using live animals in medical training.

There is no reason to torture and mutilate goats when there is an alternative available. For the good of the animals who are subjected to painful deaths, please do not use goats in the training for your Army Reserve medics.

Sincerely,

  1. Brenda Denno says:

This is beyond horrifying. It is inexcusable and unconscionable. Animal cruelty is NEVER ok. And by doing this they train military personnel to be dangerous psychopathic killers.

  2. end the cruel mutilation of these great goats for army training now to save lives.
