Target: Patty Sweet, Co-Owner of Paradise Amusements
Goal: Stop Paradise Amusements from providing live animals as prizes for carnivals and other events.
Paradise Amusements is a company that provides carnivals with prizes for its booths. Some of the “prizes” they sell to carnivals include live animals. It is incredibly irresponsible to give away live animals as prizes and it is time for this to stop.
Animals often given away as prizes include rabbits, hermit crabs, fish and even some reptiles. Taking in a new animal is a lot of responsibility, and no one can guarantee the winner of these “prizes” will be a responsible caregiver. In most cases, people are not ready for the new responsibility and the animal ends up neglected, thrown into the wild or is bounce around from house to house. All of these outcomes are extremely stressful for the animals and can be avoided.
Sign this petition and urge Paradise Amusements to no longer sell live animals. Animals are not objects and should stopped being treated as such.
Dear Ms. Sweet,
It has come to my attention that your company provides live animals for carnivals and other events. Animals are not objects and it is time to stop treating them as such. Giving animals away as “prizes” is wildly irresponsible and often leads to incredibly stressful lives for the animals.
Taking in a new animal is a lot of responsibility and there is no way to guarantee the random “winner” will be a responsible caregiver. It is common for the winner to be overwhelmed with the new responsibility which leads to the animal being neglected, thrown into the wild or being bounced around from house to house.
Please consider no longer providing live animals as prizes. These animals deserve a happy, peaceful life. There are many humane alternatives, like stuffed animals, that would make children just as happy.
