Justice for Horse Dead After Cop Reportedly Tied Him Up Without Food or Water

Target: Robert White, Deputy Chief of Denver Mounted Police Department

Goal: Punish officer for reportedly tying police horse up and leaving him to die without food or water.

A police officer’s 10-year-old horse died after the officer reportedly tied the animal up and neglected to give him food or water. The horse, named MC Hammer, spent 16 hours tied up and unable to eat or drink, and possibly unable to even lay down, according to reports. The poor horse was found by other employees, still tied to the hook and in bad shape. The police department alleges that it called a veterinarian, who claimed that MC Hammer was suffering from colic and wouldn’t recover. The horse was then euthanized. However, the department itself stated that medical experts who evaluated the horse were unable to conclude whether his condition was caused by being left in the stall without food or water for approximately 16 hours.

Officer Joseph Teeter of the Denver Police Department’s Mounted Police Division claimed that after he tied up MC Hammer at the patrol barn, he got distracted by paperwork. Despite his carelessness possibly leading to the innocent horse’s suffering and death, Teeter received the pathetic punishment of receiving a “disciplinary letter” and not getting paid for a vacation day. The letter even stated that Teeter put the horse in cruel conditions.

This is a disgusting injustice for the poor horse who died, and it says a lot about how unimportant the lives of innocent animals are in the eyes of police. Police officers should not be above the law when it comes to neglect and cruelty to animals. Please sign this petition to demand that officer Teeter be reprimanded for allegedly neglecting MC Hammer.

Dear Chief White,

A horse had to be euthanized after reportedly being tied up and left without food or water by a police officer. The only investigation was an “internal investigation” conducted by the police department. The officer’s only punishment, according to documents, was a disciplinary letter and one non-paid vacation day. This punishment doesn’t fit the crime at all, and it’s a slap in the face to the innocent horse who suffered and had to die all because of the officer’s alleged carelessness and neglect.

It seems that this officer is treated as if he’s above the law, and this sends the message that the Denver Police Department has no regard for the lives of the animals they use. We demand that this disgusting injustice be reversed and the officer be appropriately punished.

  2. no matter how much paper work the cop had you still don’t leave your horse unattended with out food and water, that should have been off on the top, you give the horse food and water first then start the paper work its only common sense the cop must be an idiot.

  3. The horse abuser is lying. He should also pay for the price of the horse and the training. Never let him take charge of an animal again.

  7. Lori Neuman says:

You should NOT be a mounted Police officer or K-9 Cop if you do not care about your dog or horse! NEVER do you “forget” about them!

  8. Debra Diana says:

The people in charge of disciplinary action in cases like this need to grow some balls!!! This is exactly why things like this keep happening. There is no real consequence. Shame on these human beings who do nothing to try and stop these acts of cruelty!!!!

  9. Chief White may be complicit as well as the author of the “pathetic” letter therefore higher authorities need to be sent this petition, and external investigation made into whether Teeter should be formally charged with cruelty – and relieved of duty – as opposed to simply receiving a letter mentioning his cruelty.

  10. This cop should be horse-whipped & tied somewhere where he can’t get food or water!!!!!

  11. Laurie Miskell says:

WTF???!!! Is it because he was a cop that he wasnt charged?..CORRUPTION!!!! Charge him with animal abuse!! do your f.vking job!!!!

  13. Bob – This very incident is a classic example of why animal torture/murder is rampant in today’s society. In almost all cases, the penalty for crimes against the Animal Kingdom are non-existent. Hand down harsher penalties and many people (not all) might think twice before engaging in this type of behavior. The Animal Kingdom are citizens of this Earth and they deserve our respect and protection. Throw the book at this POS who, in essence, murdered his horse…

  14. Lisa Allred Lisa Zarafonetis says:

    Signed & shared❗?

  15. Tie him up to die bastard

  16. THE PEOPLE want justice. How many more police officers do not suffer the consequences of their actions to their animals, this IS unacceptable. No paid leave, no warnings, he committed a crime and must be charged and prosecuted per the law! The people are watching, judge and prosecutor do your job.
