Save Baby Polar Bears From Toxic Chemicals

Target: Donald Trump, President-elect of the United States

Goal: Save juvenile polar bears from deadly toxins.

According to a new study, juvenile polar bears are exposed to more than 1,000 times the safe limit of toxic chemicals coming from their mother’s milk. This information comes from a study that looked at 19 groups of chemicals found in animals at the top of the Arctic food chain. The toxicity outlined by the study is based off of a level that would be toxic to human beings.

Polar bears receive the most Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) because of their place in the food chain. These animals are already critically threatened without the presence of these toxins. These POPs do not break down overtime, and accumulate as you move higher and higher up the food chain because animals have no way of removing them. The chemicals can be transported by air, water and through living animals. Because of weather patterns and water currents, these chemicals tend to settle in the Arctic and Antarctic, making polar bears the most at risk.

The chemicals are passed through the mother polar bear’s breast milk. This is why young polar bears receive so much more than even their parents. The mother is passing on more toxins in her milk than she carries herself. Many of the toxins found in the bears were outlawed years ago, but still exist within the food chains of animals.

Even though many of the chemicals are already or are in the process of being phased out, many new ones are already taking their place. We need to gain control over chemical manufactures to save the polar bears and in turn protect the Arctic food chain.

Sign this petition to ensure these chemicals are no longer produced, and that the bears are safe from the toxins.

PETITON LETTER:

Dear Mr. Trump,

Juvenile polar bears are currently receiving 1,000 times the safe amount of toxic chemicals called POPs, or Persistent Organic Pollutants. These come in many types and some have been phased out of use, but even those no longer in production still linger in our world, building up over time within the food chain, and culminating in dangerously high levels of chemicals at the top.

Polar bears are an already heavily threatened species without the added danger of chemicals used by humans. Fertilizers and other commonly used substances contribute heavily to the toxins affecting the polar bears. This needs to be remedied or else the entire species will go extinct.

Please use your power and get chemical companies and chemical users in check. Their actions threaten countless species as well as the endangered polar bears.

Sincerely,

I signed, but it probably won’t do any good. The Trumps don’t care about the animals, that’s been proved already. It’s pretty sickening.

    • Completely agree,Jaime.I signed too,but the stupid idiot doesn’t even believe in climate change, let alone care about Animal Welfare. With 2 trophy-hunting moronic sons & a twit daughter who uses real fur in her clothing line, chances are slim that anything will be done But I guess its worth a shot in hell to try & save those sweet Polar babies.

We have to stop his sons’ decadent, blood-thirsty hunting expeditions, as well.

  4. ACT NOW
OR WANT YOU WAIT FOR THE NEXT ICE AGE

  5. Maybe the idiot Trump will have a change of heart but I won’t hold my breath he has moron murdering sons and nasty family as the saying goes the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, I pity you America.

  6. Yet another threat to the endangered polar bears. Man’s encroachment on the habitats of so many species are reeking havoc worldwide. Please stand up for the voiceless, innocent, helpless animals that we don’t lose any more. Polar bear numbers are falling at an alarming rate. Let our government help them by preserving what they require for survival.

  7. what else have these poor poor animals have to put up with, we should be looking out for all animals now. for pities sake.

We are subjected to a president who could care less about endangered species, our environment, global warming, and our beautiful public lands. The only thing that interests him is power and money. I hope we all can find a way to protect all this beauty and to pass on to future generations
