Justice for Animals Reportedly Abused in Animal Rescue Facility

Target: Logan Pickett, District Attorney for Liberty County, Texas

Goal: Prosecute the owners of a rescue facility where more than 150 animals were found in various stages of neglect.

More than 150 animals have been rescued from a supposed animal rescue facility, where they were found in poor condition. They lived in their own waste and suffered injuries related to neglect. Demand justice for these innocent animals.

“What we found today at this facility is unacceptable,” stated Tara Yurkshat, vice president of animal welfare at the Houston SPCA. Liberty County Sheriff’s deputies, along with SPCA investigators, responded to reports of animal cruelty at the Puppy-Dogs-R-Us shelter in Dayton. There, they found over 150 animals living in their own waste without access to food or water. Some were found in rusty wire crates and others in flooded enclosures.

The Houston SPCA will be caring for the animals until permanent custody can be established. Liberty County has not yet decided if it will pursue criminal charges. Sign below to demand that the district attorney pursue criminal charges in this case.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Pickett,

Over 150 animals were found in deplorable conditions at a supposed animal rescue facility. Dogs, cats, and a horse were discovered living in filth. We demand justice for these innocent animals.

The animals found on the 20-acre property appeared to suffer from various degrees of neglect. Kennel enclosures were flooded, forcing some of the dogs to stand on top of the kennels to escape the murky water. Others were found in rusty wire cages stacked on top of each other in a dark shed. Many of the animals lacked access to food and water.

We demand that you pursue criminal charges against those deemed responsible for this horrific abuse.

Sincerely,

I went to the Eyewitness News 13 Houston TX, and did find the story. It does verify this petition. It looks like a shelter that lost control of its numbers. That can happen quickly.

Houston SPCA is looking to gain custody of all the animals – 150+ dogs, 6 cats, 1 horse. Six cats should not be hard to place. And it’s Texas – the horse should get a new home. Over one hundred dogs need to be placed. Fingers crossed.

    • You appear to underestimate the horrifying neglect and abuse of these poor innocent animals, assuming this situation can easily occur, when losing control of numbers. That’s B.S.

These kind of horrific conditions don’t just happen overnight. The animals have been suffering for a long period of time.

Was this really a rescue facility or one that just pretended to be?

Regardless, there is NO justifiable excuse for leaving animals (already severely stressed being homeless) in appalling condition of neglect and filth–many with no access to food or water; suffering with neglect injuries; living in waste; flooded kennel enclosures; and others in rusty wire cages, stacked high in a dark shed!

This place MUST BE SHUT DOWN, fined and charged with massive animal abuse.

There should be NO question as to criminal charges! They MUST BE pursued!

So this is an animal abuse facility not a rescue facility.
Jail, large fine and anything else you can throw at them.
Plus we need a national database of animal abusers.
