Target: Michael Correia, Director of Government Relations for the National Cannabis Industry Association
Goal: Fight against Trump’s choice for Attorney General due to his position against legal cannabis.
Donald Trump’s pick for U.S. Attorney General is a man who vocally opposes legal cannabis, yet one of the most influential organizations that lobbies for pro-cannabis legislation has expressed support. The National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) released a statement saying they look forward to working with Jeff Sessions, the Alabama Republican who said good people don’t smoke cannabis. Sessions has also criticized President Barack Obama for commuting the sentences of so many drug offenders.
If he assumes the role of Attorney General, Sessions will be in a position to target growers and shop owners across America. By supporting this man, the NCIA could be throwing the little guy under the bus while profiting off selectively enforced laws. As one of the biggest proponents for cannabis legalization, this organization should be fighting against Sessions. Demand that the NCIA revoke its support of this legal cannabis opponent.
Dear Mr. Correia,
The National Cannabis Industry Association has endorsed a man for Attorney General who is vocally against legalizing cannabis. This man has made rude comments about people who use the substance and has criticized President Obama for commuting the sentences of many drug offenders.
If Sessions serves as Attorney General, he will be in a position to make things very hard on those who need cannabis to be legal. I demand that you revoke your support and petition Trump to choose a different candidate.
