Target: Carl Paladino, Businessman and Trump Campaigner
Goal: Apologize for racist and crude remarks about the First Family.
Carl Paladino, a businessman in Buffalo, New York, and co-chair of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in the state of New York, gave an interview in which he said racist, sexist, and crude remarks about President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.
In the interview, Paladino wishes that, in 2017, “[President] Obama catches mad cow disease…[and] dies” and that Michelle Obama returns “to being a male” and goes back to Africa “where she lives comfortably in a cave with…[a] gorilla.” He defended his words by arguing that the Obamas “hate America.” Such remarks are racist and appalling. They disrespect a man and his family who have served our nation for eight years.
In such a divisive time in our nation, there is no place for such racism and hate. Paladino has no place in the political arena with such a temperament and should immediately resign from any and all public posts he holds, including a position on the Buffalo Board of Education. Sign the petition to demand that he also apologize for his disgusting remarks, which have only added to the hateful rhetoric which has deeply divided our country.
Dear Mr. Paladino,
Your recent remarks about President Barack Obama and his wife are disgusting. President and Mrs. Obama have dedicated the past eight years to serving the American people. This includes all American, even those like you who so hatefully target them with racist and crude remarks.
In a world that is advancing and striving to overcome racism, sexism, and bigotry of any kind, your words show that there is still much to be done. You have no right to hold any public office, as your beliefs and viewpoints prevent the progress of our society. I demand that you resign from any and all public posts you hold, including from the Buffalo Board of Education, and that you apologize to the First Family for your appalling and horrifying rhetoric.
