Stop Trump’s Reckless Attempts to Restart Nuclear Arms Race

Target: President-Elect Donald Trump

Goal: Demand that Donald Trump halt any plans to expand nuclear arsenals in the United States.

For decades, the U.S. and Russia have shied away from the expansion of nuclear weapons programs, but now the nuclear superpowers have begun to slide backward as tensions between the two countries mount. If we do not want another world-threatening cold war on our hands, we must act now. We need to be working on peacefully resolving global crises like climate change rather than creating them.

According to CNN, Trump tweeted, “The United States must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes,” in response to Putin’s message about boosting Russia’s ability to enhance its own nuclear proficiency. This tweet was undiplomatic and inflammatory. This was the moment for cooler heads to prevail, but Trump was unable to rise to the moment.

Tensions are on the rise since Russia claimed the semi-autonomous Crimea. This led to sanctions being levied against Russia. This year, the U.S. also sent troops, tanks and weapons to Poland. Other NATO countries have also dispatched troops to Poland and Romania. These escalations set the stage for another Cold War with Russia despite the sincere efforts that both nations have made to curtail nuclear armament since the end of the Cold War.

Ten former nuclear lunch operators, men who have all possessed the keys that have the capacity to destroy the world, have publicly declared that they believe that Trump does not have the temperament to hold the nuclear codes. These tweets are an example of why they are correct.

The U.S. and Russia are home more than 90 percent of the world’s 15,000 nuclear weapons. As tensions increase between these two nations, the world can only hope that peace will prevail. Sign this petition to tell Trump that he should continue to reduce America’s nuclear arsenal.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President-Elect Trump,

Your recent inflammatory tweet about increasing our nuclear capabilities undermines years of work between the U.S. and Russia to slowly move towards nuclear disarmament. This undiplomatic reaction creates an atmosphere of distrust and competition between two old rivals that could lead to another Cold War.

Tensions between the U.S. and Russia have risen since America has sent troops, tanks, and artillery to Poland. We are now poised to strike a nuclear superpower. This position must be treated with the utmost diplomacy. Peace must be made through mutual security and understanding, not through a show of strength. Please continue to reduce America’s nuclear arsenal and ensure a nuclear-free future.

Sincerely,

  1. Frankly, I’d like to know how we’re supposed to STOP him from doing anything he wants……the Congress will fold up and agree to dance naked in Times Square if he asks them to…….all the previous rules of civil discourse have been SUSPENDED for the next 4 years.

    • Oh yeah, like having a woman who sold access to our government for her personal profit would be better? A woman who ran from non-existant snipers in Bosnia? A woman who has been criminal slime for most of her adult life and got a pass from the democrap party?

      • I see you’re having a problem staying on topic, Frank. Your only comeback is a handful of lies. Good-going there, Frank…

  2. Patricia Dumais says:

What scares me is that Trump talks about “nukes” as if they were the standard tools of warfare. A nuclear war could mean the end of mankind or, at least, a very damaged planet earth.

  3. Ant-Trump petitions bother me. They don’t know who Trump is due to false media.

  4. The Russians want peace! We also want peace!
