Demand University Stop Experimenting on Innocent Dogs

Target: John Sharp, Chancellor of Texas A&M University

Goal: Shut down the cruel dog lab and muscular dystrophy research facility run by Professor John Kornegay.

Texas A&M University currently runs a laboratory that breeds dogs with particular types of muscular dystrophy in order to test on them. These tests and experiments have not lead to any cure or treatment of the disease, only more pain.

The animal rights organization PETA recently released footage of the laboratories, and it is incredibly difficult to watch. Many of the dogs were struggling to stand and had difficulty eating. In addition, many were extremely thin and kept in cages, sometimes all alone. Dogs that carried the gene but did not have the disease were seen pacing excessively and biting the metal bars of their barren cages.

All of these dogs have been denied the love and comfort of a home. They instead are forcibly tested on and neglected. It is a sad life, and the 30 years of research has brought no results. Sign this petition and demand that the university shut down this cruel lab.

Dear Chancellor Sharp,

Professor Joe Kornegay has been testing and experimenting on dogs for muscular dystrophy research for the past 30 years, and it has lead to no cure or treatment of this awful disease. Instead it has only lead to more pain and misery as these dogs allegedly face a harsh reality daily.

The animal rights organization PETA recently released footage from inside Professor Kornegay’s laboratory, and it was difficult to watch. All these dogs that could be living with a loving and caring family are denied this privileged and instead are reportedly extremely neglected. The footage showed dogs in a variety of states including excessive pacing and barely being able to stand. Many were biting at the bars of their barren cages and some were all alone.

The 30 years of research has brought no cure or treatment for muscular dystrophy. Countless dogs have already suffered at the hands of Professor Kornegay, and it is time to stop this cruelty. With no results, it is time to retire these dogs and let them live out the rest of their days surrounded by a loving, caring family.

  1. This is an inaccurate, unfair claim against a best-in-class facility which has been addressed in the link below although I’m sure you’ll delete this.

  2. I challenge those of you who want to understand the truth to leave this post up. This was a story that is inaccurate and was posted by disgruntled group. The facility is best-in-class, the dogs are named and well-cared for:

  7. Catherine Bohnert says:

So “amy” (who doesn’t even have the guts to give her last name) says this is an “unfair” claim against a “best-in-class facility.” YOU SHOULD ASHAMED OF DEFENDING THESE ATROCITIES. Twenty years (!!!) of failed research, torturing dogs, yielding no results. DISGUSTING and SHAMEFUL.

  8. This INSANE CRUELTY must be stopped!!
