Target: John A. Bryant, CEO of Kellogg’s
Goal: Applaud Kellogg’s for pulling its advertising from troubling alt-right website Breitbart News.
Kellogg’s will no longer advertise its popular breakfast foods and other snacks on the alt-right website Breitbart News. It is only one of several brands that has pulled advertising from the website which has used its platform to spread troubling lies, harmful propaganda, and bigoted commentary.
Kellogg’s argues that the conservative website’s views do not align with the company’s. Breitbart has published a series of offensive articles, including ones about the LGBTQ community and another that argues “Birth Control Makes Women Unattractive and Crazy.” Kellogg’s has made a commendable decision.
Although Breitbart has called the action “un-American,” Kellogg’s has made the right choice and has stood up against the horrible “news” source during a very divisive time. More businesses should follow Kellogg’s lead. Sign the petition to show your support for the company.
Dear Mr. Bryant,
I would like to applaud your company for taking a stand against Breitbart News and for pulling your ads from the conservative website. There must be consequences for words that seek to malign and harm others. Breitbart has attacked women, African Americans, Muslims, members of the LGBTQ community, and other minority groups. By pulling your ads from the site, you show that Kellogg’s stands in solidarity with these marginalized groups.
While Breitbart and other members of the troubling alt-right may condemn you, I would like to applaud you for using your platform for good during these divisive times. I only hope that other companies follow your lead and continue to fight back against hateful rhetoric and harmful propaganda.
