Stop Misleading Women About Abortion With Inaccurate Pamphlet

Target: Sylvia Garcia, Texas Senate

Goal: Revoke the Woman’s Right to Know Act or revise the “A Woman’s Right to Know” pamphlet so it only contains correct scientific information about abortions.

A few years back, Texas passed the Woman’s Right to Know Act, which means women considering abortion receive an “informational” pamphlet regarding the objective and scientific information about the fetus and abortions. However the “A Woman’s Right to Know” pamphlet contains suggestive and misleading language that does not correctly inform women.

Throughout the pamphlet, the fetus is referred to as “your baby,” which is a common tactic used by pro-life activists to instill guilt in women. In addition, the pamphlet links abortions to suicide and cancer, where there is no direct cause and effect relation between the two.

Sign this petition and demand that Texas revoke the Woman’s Right to Know Act or make a new pamphlet that contains only the scientific facts of abortions and the fetus.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Senator Garcia,

A few years ago, Texas passed the Woman’s Right to Know Act that intended to inform women about the science behind abortions and the fetus. However the “A Woman’s Right to Know” pamphlet contains misleading information and language commonly used by pro-life activists to persuade women not to abort.

Throughout the pamphlet, the term “your baby” is used instead of the correct scientific vocabulary like fetus and embryo. The pamphlet links abortions to suicide and cancer, but there is no direct link between the two.

Please either revoke the Woman’s Right to Know Act, or make and distribute a new pamphlet that contains proper language and only the scientific facts of abortion and the fetus. Each women has a right to choose, and the government has no right to try and persuade them otherwise.

Sincerely,
