Target: Lisa Madigan, Illinois Attorney General
Goal: Charge the police officer who reportedly shot and killed unarmed 19-year-old Kajuan Raye.
A Chicago police officer allegedly shot a black teenager to death and claims that the teen pointed a gun at him twice, despite the fact no weapon has been found. This adds another death by police to the long list currently running in Chicago. Black people, especially teenagers, should not have to fear death by a trigger-happy police officer. Demand this officer be charged for his heinous crime and be punished under the full extent of the law.
Chicago Police Department Sergeant John Poulos was answering a call for a battery when he confronted 19-year-old Kajuan Raye who happened to be in the area. Raye took off running, most likely in fear thinking of how many scenarios where he’d seen a black man unjustifiably gunned down by police.
Poulos claims Raye pointed a gun at him twice as he chased after the teen so the officer fired at him, striking him in the back and causing him to later die at the hospital. The supposed gun Poulos references has never been found.
Chicago Tribune reports that just three years ago Poulos fatally shot a man while he was off-duty and claimed the man had a gun. No gun was ever found in that incident either. It’s obvious that this man is a liar and doesn’t know when it’s permissible to use his gun. Kajuan Raye should not be dead right now. Urge officials to charge Poulos with murder and punish him to the full extent of the law.
Dear Attorney General Madigan,
A black teenager was unjustifiably shot and killed by a police officer in Chicago recently, increasing the ever-growing number of innocent civilians fatally shot by police in this country. The officer claims the teen had a gun and pointed it at him twice, yet no gun has been found. This same officer was involved in a similar case where he also fatally shot a man who he claimed to have a gun despite no weapon ever being found.
This officer has now killed at least two people under the guise that they had guns and posed a threat when they didn’t. He cannot continue to serve and must be punished. I demand you charge him with murder and punish him to the full extent of the law.
