Target: Jerry Brown, Governor of California
Goal: Increase police protection at the California mosques that were sent letters calling Muslims horrific names and promising mass killings.
Letters were sent to mosques in California calling Muslims “children of Satan,” insulting them and promising their genocide by President-elect Donald Trump. This is just one of hundreds of reported racially charged incidents happening to minorities since Donald Trump was elected president. Urge the governor of California to increase protections at these mosques to ensure the safety of Muslim worshippers.
Matching notes were sent to mosques in California in Long Beach, Claremont, and San Jose. The notes called Muslims “…a vile and filthy people” that “…worship the devil.” The letters said that President-elect Donald Trump would do to Muslims “…what Hitler did to the Jews.” The letter was signed “Americans for a Better Way.”
Activists and religious groups are calling for police to investigate the incident, as it was obviously organized across the state. Muslim people should not have to feel unsafe at their place of worship and be threatened with genocide. Urge California Governor Jerry Brown to deploy police to protect these targeted mosques and ensure the safety of the Muslims who attend them.
Dear Governor Brown,
You may have heard the news that threatening letters with slurs against Muslims were sent to Islamic centers around San Francisco and Los Angeles. These letters told Muslims they would be murdered en masse like what tragically happened to Jewish people during the Holocaust.
While there must be investigations of these crimes, these Muslim worshippers must also be assured that the state is looking out for them and they are protected. I urge you to implement police protection at the mosques that received these letters to ensure that the Muslims who attend them are safe.
