Target: John Belatti, City Prosecutor of Mesa, Arizona
Goal: Seek maximum punishment for the people who allegedly neglected 79 animals and ban them from owning animals in the future.
Numerous animals, including exotic ones, were reportedly found living in deplorable conditions without adequate food, shelter, or water. A video posted on the sheriff’s Facebook page shows feces smeared all over the floor and several rooms full of large and small dogs in crates stacked on top of one another.
Among the pets were 36 dogs, 21 reptiles, 10 birds, eight spiders and four mammals. According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, the individuals could face up to 71 misdemeanor counts for failure to provide adequate food, shelter and water, yet nobody has been arrested. Please sign this petition to demand that the people responsible for this cruel treatment are sentenced to the maximum extent and banned from owning animals if convicted.
Dear Mr. Belatti,
The sheriff’s office reportedly found 79 animals confined to small cages and living in deplorable conditions. According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, the floors were covered in feces and several rooms had cages of animals stacked on top of one another. The poor creatures reportedly didn’t even have adequate food or water.
It’s inexcusably cruel that these 79 innocent animals were forced to suffer in these conditions. We urge you to help put a stop to this problem by ensuring that the people responsible receive the maximum penalty and a permanent ban from owning animals.
