Don’t Let Trump Family Make a Profit Off American Taxpayers

Target: Donald Trump, President-Elect of the United States

Goal: Do not charge the Secret Service for using rooms in Trump Tower.

Donald Trump has not yet been inaugurated, but he has already thought of ways to make a profit through the office of President of the United States by charging the Secret Service about $1.5 million a year for rooms in Trump Tower. The First Family has chosen to continue to live in the 5th Avenue building and not the White House. As a result, the building must have round-the-clock Secret Service and police protection.

It will take an average of 100 Secret Service agents and up to 300 NYPD officers to protect the building, all of who will require permanent space in Trump Tower to run their operations. Such costs will be an enormous burden on taxpayers. Not only will Americans pay about $1.5 million per year for the extra Secret Service protection, they will also pay as much as $1 million a day for the NYPD protection of the building.

While Americans have always paid for the protection of the president, never before has the president actually profited as Trump will. Since he has refused to say whether he will rid himself of his assets or put his business into a blind trust, he currently stands to make money off his Secret Service protection. Demand that President-elect Donald Trump provide the space in his building as a courtesy, especially since the Secret Service and police will be working to protect the lives of him and his entire family and should not be charged to do so.

Dear Mr. Trump,

Since your family will continue to live in Trump Tower, constant Secret Service and police protection will be needed to keep them safe. To smoothly run operations, the Secret Service will need to rent space in the 5th Avenue building. This will cost American taxpayers about $1.5 million a year, in addition to the $1 million per day taxpayers will pay for the NYPD protection.

Never before has a president stood to profit from his Secret Service protection as you have. The Secret Service will be paying your business for the space in Trump Tower. In other words, taxpayers will be paying for your protection. Due to your unwillingness to be open with the American people and release your tax returns, it seems unfair to make Americans work to support you when you seem to have not paid federal taxes in about two decades.

The rooms at Trump Tower should be provided to Secret Service as a courtesy. After all, the Secret Service is working to protect both you and your family. I demand that you do not make a profit off your Secret Service protection.

  2. Susan Rhodes says:

A real president and his family live in the Whitehouse. You waste taxpayer’s dollars with your reckless spending of our tax dollars while lining your greedy pockets with taxpayer’s money with your attempts to financially profit off renting living quarters to the Secret Service agents. No wonder you said you were not doing to take a salary. You would make more money by picking our pockets. After all, $1.5 million in revenue is a lot more than $400,000.00 a year in presidential salary. You are both greedy and corrupt. If you won’t live in the Whitehouse, then you should pay for it all out of your own pocket. If someone rolled your brain down the edge of a razor blade, it would look like a BB on a four lane highway. You must think you are a third world king when you are just a deplorable grifter. You aren’t worthy to wipe the behinds of the American people.
