Target: Donald Trump, President-Elect of the United States
Goal: Demand that Donald Trump denounce the white supremacist groups honoring and supporting him.
Disturbing footage was recently released of a neo-Nazi group haling and praising the nation’s next president, Donald Trump. This horrifying footage, in addition to the sharp increase in hate crimes against men and women of different races and religions since the election’s end, is extremely unsettling.
While our president-elect has had plenty of time to tweet about the media, Saturday Night Live, and Hamilton, he has yet to speak directly to the American people, in person or over Twitter, and condemn the violent actions and rhetoric. Aside from a half-hearted “Stop it!” snapped into a 60 Minutes camera and an alleged disavowal to The New York Times, Trump has remained silent on the rise in white supremacy under his name.
If Trump truly wants to be a president for all Americans, he must protect all Americans and condemn the actions of any men or women who seek to hurt another group based on their skin, faith, citizenship status, or sexual orientation. Sign the petition and demand that Trump take his new job seriously and denounce the neo-Nazi and white supremacy groups publicly.
Dear Mr. Trump,
Since winning the presidential election, hate crimes have increased and neo-Nazi groups have come out of the shadows to spew their hateful rhetoric in your name. Throughout this election you have condemned the media, immigrants, Democrats, Muslims, the cast of Saturday Night Live, protestors, and even the cast of Hamilton. Yet you have never publicly condemned the violent acts carried out by your supporters. You have never publicly condemned the neo-Nazi groups who raised their arms in salute to you.
Have you failed to realize that it has been your rhetoric that has influenced their words and actions? You must take responsibility for your actions and condemn theirs. If you truly want to be a president for all Americans, you must protect all Americans. I demand that you publicly give a speech condemning the white supremacists that support you.
