Target: Xavier Simonet, CEO of Kathmandu
Goal: Stop Kathmandu from using cruelly-sourced down feathers in its products.
The popular brand, Kathmandu, uses down feathers in many of its products but claims that all the down is “ethically sourced.” However, animal rights organization PETA recently went into the farms where Kathmandu’s down is sourced and its claims seem to be far from the truth.
Many geese were seen going through the cruel process of live plucking. Some of the geese could be heard screaming in pain while others were frozen still due to the shock and fear. The company claims to not perform live plucking because of its cruelness, however, eyewitness reports say otherwise.
Sign this petition and demand the company stop supporting this cruel industry and start using alternative materials that cause no harm to animals.
Dear Mr. Simonet,
Your company uses down in many of its products and claims the down is “ethically sourced.” However, eyewitnesses from the animal rights organization PETA saw what truly happens at the farms your down comes from.
Eyewitness reports claim that many of the geese had large, open, bloody wounds and that live plucking was a common practice at the farms. Geese being plucked were either screaming in pain or frozen still due to the shock and fear. One down industry representative even stated that they “advertised that it’s all plucked after slaughter – nobody dares to buy it if you say it’s live plucked.”
Please consider no longer using down feathers in your products and switching to an alternative, cruelty-free material. No animal should be tortured and killed for clothing.
