Target: James Lentz, CEO of Toyota
Goal: Stop Toyota from using leather in its vehicles.
Animal rights organization PETA recently released videos of severe animal cruelty allegedly taking place on ranches that supply leather for Toyota. The videos show cows, bulls and calves being beaten, dragged, shocked and branded on the face.
Calves were seen being dragged away from their mothers, branded on the face and forced into compact areas where they would often panic. The cattle were kept on the ranch until about 3 years old and it was clear the animals were severely neglected. Cows were seen with large, open wounds infested with maggots. At 3, the cows and bulls have their throats slit and are then skinned.
Sign this petition to demand Toyota make the compassionate change and start using vegan leather. Animals should not be tortured and killed for a car.
Dear Mr. Lentz,
Recently, animal rights organization PETA released footage of some of the cattle ranches where the leather for your cars is allegedly produced. The footage was shocking and difficult to watch.
Cows, bulls and calves were seen being beaten, dragged, shocked and branded all without the use of any painkillers. Large, open wounds were a common sight among the animals and some even had maggots crawling on them. After about three years of pain and misery, the animals have their throats slit and are then skinned.
Please consider using a vegan leather which would spare countless animals from unnecessary pain and death. The alternative materials are available and it is time to start utilizing them.
