Goal: Demand the maximum penalty for the men who allegedly forced a black man into a coffin and threatened to set him on fire.
Two white South African men allegedly forced a black man into a coffin and threatened to set him on fire. They were said to have suspected the man of trespassing on their property. Demand justice for this innocent man.
“There was a grave and then a coffin. There was nothing I could do because the other man had a gun,” stated Victor Rethabile Mlotshwa. A video reportedly showed the two unnamed suspects pushing Mlotshwa into a coffin and closing the lid on his upper body. One of the men was allegedly heard threatening to pour gasoline over Mlotshwa and put a snake into the coffin.
The two suspects have been arrested and are being held without bail. Sign below and demand the maximum penalty in this case.
Dear Chief Justice Mogoeng,
Two men reportedly forced a black man into a coffin and threatened to set him on fire. The reported racially motivated attack has stirred a protest among the South African people. We demand justice for this innocent man.
“We hope the justice system will reach an outcome that restores a measure of dignity to Mr. Mlotshwa,” stated the foundation of F.W. de Klerk, South Africa’s last apartheid-era president. This attack has spawned great concern among black South Africans, who have protested the reported wage gap between black and white citizens in the past.
The suspects are in custody and awaiting trial. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case and help ensure that these vicious acts do not go unpunished.
