Target: Judge Gonzalo Curiel of the U.S. District Court
Goal: Do not delay Donald Trump’s Trump University fraud case until after his presidential inauguration.
Donald Trump, president-elect of the United States, has demanded once again that his Trump University fraud case be delayed until after he is inaugurated president. Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who presides over the case and who, as many remember, was the target of racist remarks made by the president-elect, has already delayed the trial several times at Trump’s request. The trial, over whether Trump allegedly schemed millions of dollars out of hardworking Americans (Americans who will soon be his constituents) in a fake “get rich quick” ploy, was to have started over six years ago.
Donald Trump is going to be the president of the United States. As his constituents, Americans have a right to know how he earned his money and whether it was done illegally. He’s already gotten away with so much throughout his campaign: his lies, his racism, and not releasing his tax returns. He cannot get away with allegedly having committed fraud against men and women who are now his own people. His fear to go to trial, in addition, is ironic, considering he has held Secretary Hillary Clinton guilty for actions the government and law have found her innocent of.
Sign the petition to demand that Judge Curiel resume the trial this month as was initially planned, and not wait until after the inauguration. It is the right of the American people to know just what kind of man will now be in charge of the country.
Dear Judge Curiel,
After delaying this trial for six years, most recently delaying it during his presidential run, Donald Trump has now requested that his Trump University fraud trial be delayed until after he is sworn in as president. This is unacceptable to the citizens of the United States.
Americans have a right to know what kind of man will be running their nation. To delay the trial until after he holds office is to deny them this right. The American public has waited too long to know the truth, and the men and women who have allegedly lost millions have waited even longer to have their voices heard. I ask that you do not delay Trump’s trial.
