Target: President-Elect Donald J. Trump
Goal: Commit to assigning all responsibility for decisions regarding the Dakota Access Pipeline to an independent and impartial authority.
According to the financial disclosure form released by President-Elect Donald Trump when he declared his presidential bid, he has between $550,0000 and $1.1 million invested in two firms backing the Dakota Access Pipelines. In his financial disclosure form, President Elect Donald Trump disclosed an investment of $500,000 to $1 million in Energy Transfer Partners, the firm building the pipeline as well as a $50,000 to $100,000 investment in Phillips 66, a firm that will own 25 percent of the Pipeline at the project’s completion.
The next incumbent of the Oval Office will most probably inherit responsibility for the ongoing crisis surrounding the Dakota Access Pipeline. Given his investments in the project, President Elect Donald Trump has a clear conflict of interest. Sign our petition and demand that he commit to appointing an independent and impartial authority responsible for decisions regarding the pipeline project.
Dear President-Elect Trump,
I am writing to you concerning your financial interests in the Dakota Access Pipeline. In your financial disclosure form released at the announcement of your presidential bid, you disclosed an investment valued at between $500,000 and $1 million in Energy Transfer Partners and a $50,000 to $100,000 investment in Phillips 66. As you know, both of these firms have a financial interest in the ongoing construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Given that, on January 20th, you are likely to inherit an ongoing crisis regarding the Pipeline in North Dakota, these investments represent a conflict of interest. Such a conflict of interest is clear cause for impeachment. Accordingly, I urge you to commit to establishing an independent and impartial authority to make decisions regarding the Dakota Access Pipeline.
